Guest jstrick5 Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Hey Guys, I installed on my personal Omnia iGo and have it running fine... no problems at all Trying to install iGo on my boss's Omnia and when it's run the first time it takes you through the first time setup (choose language, voice, user agreement, etc) after the setup it takes you to the main navigation menu with "Find" "Route" "Manage" and "Settings". When it gets to this screen iGo just freezes, or reacts insanely slow. If I click one of the options it takes sometimes 10 minutes to go to the next screen. I installed on my boss's omnia after copying directly over from my device both the 2577 and iGo8 folders, so these are the same exact install files, data.zip, branding.zip, and sys.txt that I used. For the life of me, I can't figure out why his install has this freeze/lag problem that makes it unusable. Anyone else run into this or have any ideas? Using iGo Version 8.3.64029

Using iGo Version 8.3.64029 Hard-reset and reinstall. It should be work then!! Don't forget to back before format J.
Guest jstrick5 Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 We did a hard reset, then installed SPB 3.0, .NET 3.5, and a couple other small apps then iGO and ran into the same problem. He's only got 4.00MB free of program memory right now (lol) so it looks like that might be the issue. Trying to figure out what is hogging all of his program memory though because we didnt install much after the hard reset. Wondering if it's Outlook somehow with all of his emails... just don't know why that would be using up his program memory. Anyone have any good memory utilities to monitor what's eating program memory? About to search for one now. Hard-reset and reinstall. It should be work then!! Don't forget to back before format J.
Guest jstrick5 Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Actually, it's iGO that is taking up all the memory. If I sit through the lag in the button presses and exit out of iGo if free's up 55MB of program memory! So why would iGo take up 55MB of program memory causing it to run insanely slow!? Running iGo from the other Omnia and it only uses 5MB and both Omnia's have the same Verizon updated ROM and virtually the same apps installed.

Becourse it tends to keep some back files, associated with the original phone from where you copied. :) Why don't you try a clean installtion using original iGO software? J.
Guest jstrick5 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 That shouldn't be an issue. to install, you copy the 2577 and iGo8 folders to your storage and install from there. I pieced those two folders together from misc files for my phone, installed it, verified it worked, then just copied the two directories off my phone's storage. Both sets of folders would/do have the same files. I also tried a fresh install on his Omnia using files not copied from my device. Same problem. I presume this is due to copying iGO!! Animations and 3D Buildings use a lot of memory if they are turned on.
Guest jstrick5 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Thanks, I'll try turning those off but it's working fine with Animations and 3D turned on on this other omnia. Check the settings. Animations and 3D Buildings use a lot of memory if they are turned on.
