Guest kyferez Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) So basically, I had to do a hard reset. Then Verizon had me do a *228 option #2. Ever since, my GPS cannot find any sats. To test the theory, I did only the *228 thing another Omnia with working GPS, same thing happened: can't find sats anymore. My best guess is they are modifying a registry setting. I'd like to test this, but need to know how to dump the registry and do a comparison. Any input on the problem or doing reg compares? Thanks Edited August 1, 2009 by kyferez
Guest Tim-H Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 How long have you waited for the sattelites. When you hard reset it clears out any stored data, including the info that tells your phone where to start looing for the sattelites. Go back into settings/personal/phone, make sure your gps is enabled because a hard reset would turn it off. Go outside with an unobstructed view of the sky and wait for it to pick them up. After the first pickup it will get them instantly again.
Guest kyferez Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Well, On my phone, I waited for over 2 hrs yesterday and an hour today. Nothing. On my other Omnia, It had no problems getting satellites at all and would find them instantly, but after doing the *228 thing it stopped and will not come back. No reset of any kind was done on this one. Thanks
Guest Tim-H Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) Hmm sounds odd to me. I would try to reflash the cf03(official update) and not do *228 and see if that helps. The only time I ever do *228 is if i swap phones out on my plan. I know others say to do it after a flash but I've never had a problem. Edit: Make sure to check your gps settings incase it was turned off somehow by the *228. Edited August 1, 2009 by Tim-H

Updates to PRLs are known to affect GPS functionality, search "bored prl" or go here. I did a *228 option 2 two or three days ago and GPS functionality was not altered. It is possible that something changed recently. I will do an update later today.
Guest dmk679 Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 I just did a *228 option 2 and I got a GPS lock in a few secs. Must be something else going on.
Guest kyferez Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Yeah... it was a combination of things:on the hard reset I forgot to change my loc setting and on the other it was cloudy and I've realized the area I tested it at doesn't get good sat signal...I was really worried there for a bit cause I'm on a trip and really needed gps cause I otherwise get lost bad w/o it. LOL
