Using the SPV in the US

Has anyone used their UK SPV in the US?

Is it simply a matter of searching for an available network?

Does GPRS work?

How is it costed, do you get billed by Orange?

I've used my phone in the US - last December. To find a network ... Choose Programs, Settings, Telephony, Band Selection, PCS Band

GPRS doesn't work

$1.10c a minute I seem to remember, ring Orange for best network selections and exact call costs

I'm new to the site so excuse me if this was answered elsewhere....

...but all of the phone features work here in the US as far as I can tell.

I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!!

I don't see USA in the list for Orange GPRS roaming agreements.

You should be able to get international calls though but you may have to check that this has been activated on your account.

Depending on how long you're in the states.

I would unlock the phone, subscribe to a USA network, install their SIM card and setup the SPV for it. To memory, I think the SPV is TRI band

I'm sorry, I may have misunderstood the question. I thought the question was...

"Can I purchase an SPV, unlock it, and use it on a US Network like T-Mobile or ATT?"....the answer to that was YES.

It seems your question was....

"I am visiting the US, and would like to use my SPV under the ORANGE network...is it possible?"....then I would listen to Martin. The settings would need to be changed to PCS to find a network to roam on.

I live in the US and purchased an SPV. I did the PCS band selection in the telephony settings and set up my GPRS settings for tmobile along with the sms and mms. everything seemd to be working fine so far. The only thing I just cant understand is if it is a tri band phone why do I have to choose pcs? I try to set up for gsm but it says dual band. Not only that but I now have a roaming symbol on my phone all the time. I subscribe to a nation wide plan so dont get charged for roaming so I dont care (checked with tmobile) but it is weird to me. All in all I just love this phone. I cant seem to find the spvx so I dont konw if it's out already over in europe. Anyone know if it is?

I have been using SPV since December with Tmobile. GPRS works great although took a little help from Tmobile support to get it all working. You need to select PCS mode to make it work, but beyond that no issues at all. I also get the roaming triangle all the time, but it doesn't seem to matter with billing. Reception and clarity have been better than I would have expected. I don't know if that is Tmobile or just the phone - whichever it is, it is great!

Has anyone run the Orange update who uses the phone in the US exclusively? I don't want the update to lock the phone since it came to me unlocked.

I use the phone under T-Mobile as well here in the US. I have Locked & Unlocked the phone thru Orange's Website sucesfully. I have also installed Update 1.3.5.6, though I am looking for 1.3.7 to help resolve some mms issues. Everything but MMS works on the phone for me.

And yes, I am getting a signal in places that my T68m never could. I usually couldn't use my phone in my house unless I was near the front Window. No problems at all anymore.

Cool! More US users... I've had my phone working in the US on T-Mobile in Florida for about a month now... Awesome phone! I would like to update it eventually too but I'm not that much of an expert and don't want to ruin it so I'll have to do a ton more reading on this site...

I've had my SPV for a week now (Seattle area), and I too have the triangle (roaming) in the toolbar all the time. Has anyone figured out how to change this?

TMobile says there's nothing you can do and not to worry about it.

Assuming you have a national plan.

If you only have a regional plan....you're getting charged for roaming. I would call CS if this is the case.
