Help Making A Rom

On The Part Building Roms For Dummies Says

1> Run the mercurial-1.1.1.exe, complete & install that.

2> Double click the download.bat file; this will now begin the transfer of the kitchen to your PC. A black DOS window will appear and show you the process.

Well, When I try to run the download.bat file it just closes. I have no clue what Im missing,
