Guest rossi__luigi Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Hello, Today I tried the software WMWifiRouter and noticed that the connection enstablished by Omnia is only 11 Mbps. I was wondering if there is a method to enable it to 54 Mbps. Thank you.
Guest natedawg1013 Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 First, check your computer's wireless adapter's settings in Device Manager. Some prefer to use 801.11b instead of G for AD-HOC, because my connection from the phone to the computer is always 54Mbps.
Guest rossi__luigi Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 I checked. It's 54 Mbps for the laptop. The thing that makes me thing it's the phone to connect to 11 Mbps is that when I download a file of a certain dimention it takes much longer rather than it would take with the PC. Any solution? (Any registry key to modify??) Thank you.

Guest Adrynalyne Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 Try this cab Jeannette This does absolutely nil for the Omnia. THe Omnia has G enabled. At any rate, its been my experience that WMWifirouter 0.91 (the free one), only transmits B. THe pay for version connects at a full 54Mbps, if the signal quality is good enough.

Thanks for your answer. I have to say that I also understand that Omnia goes with Wifi B when I download some files. I see my Ipod downloading at the maximum that my DSL allowes and takes some time which is more than doubled on Omnia. Any other solution?? Thank you

Thank you I'm not sure the wireless mode has anything to do with this. Unless your dsl connection is over 11 megabits, which is impossible based on the way dsl works, then it wouldn't make much of a difference. This all doesn't make a lot of sense. Can you clear up a few of these facts: 1)You say at first that it is a connected by Ad-Hoc to your computer. 2)You say that the Omnia is downloading a file off the internet at reduced speeds. 3)You say that your ipod is downloading, in the same way, at faster speeds. Is it possible that your iPod is downloading through wifi, but your Omnia is connected to the internet through its data connection?

Is it possible that your iPod is downloading through wifi, but your Omnia is connected to the internet through its data connection? Ok, I will explain better. I tried to download some files through the internet via wifi connection with my Omnia; then I did the same think with my iPod and immediately noticed that the iPod was faster. This made me think that Omnia connected slower to the AP. A further clue was given by the fact that with the adHoc connection (with the PC) the data rate was 11 Mbps. Furthermore I also noticed that sometimes downloading from HSDPA is faster than when I'm connected via Wifi (which in my opinion is impossible). Thank you
Guest natedawg1013 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 If you're sure that your Omnia is connectrd to your wireless router by B, try changing the touter's broadcast mode to G only. Often, a router will broadcast on B and G at the same time. This will force your Omnia to connect by G. This is an odd problem, though, because my Omnia always downloads at maximum speed.
Guest mihai_mihai Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 why can't i connect my omnia to d-link 524 wireless router? other routers have no problem
Guest thescope Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 If you do not have any devices that use B then make sure the Router is only using G not Super or Turbo or anything but plain G. I have an Dlink router using G and N and the Omnia runs fine on it...
Guest mihai_mihai Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 i updated my router firmware to a german firmware(only one to find newer)used only G and set DTIM Interval to 1 it worked but with a very low speed when loading a site it is better then nothing aniway tnks

Guest thescope Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) The Omnia works only with up to "G" but having a Router with "N" does not disturb it or slow it down.. Edited January 25, 2010 by thescope
