Guest wcparry Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) I loathe auto comple. I loathe spell correction. I type on my phone much as I do anywhere else, and every SIP thusfar decides to 'correct' what I type, by making words what they are not. I can't be the only person annoyed by this. And who really wants to spend hours inputting obscure words and/or names? Come on, that's just silly. And for some reason disabling the correction option(s) in the multiple areas you can, seems to have little effect. Okay, all done, not asking for support really, more of a "I wonder who else is the same way" hah. Edited August 7, 2009 by wcparry
Guest Bouvrie Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Same here, it's very annoying. So, I turned it off and now it's not nagging me anymore. Using FingerKeyb 2.1 as default SIP, everything's dandy. If unchecking all boxes in Settings --> Personal --> Input--> Word Completion doesn't help, try changing the regional settings, do a hard reset, or flash a new ROM. I've had the same annoyance with any SIP the moment I pressed the spacebar. This happened to me on a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM though, not sure if that might make a difference.
Guest Billus Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 I totally agree with ya though I do like the T9 option when using the phonepad. For some reason that just works. It just doesn't seem to work quite as well on the qwerty's tho.
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 You should try SPB keyboard. It has it's own settings that work both with and apart from the device settings and the auto correct feature can be disabled completely or set to various levels of sensitivity. I have been using it and it works great.
Guest snudel Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 same here. i very often type wrong words to be faster. but resco is fine for me. it does not do auto correction.
Guest necosino Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Touch Pal for me works wonders, and it's incredibly easy to use and very feature-rich :)
Guest oogravyoo Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Touch Pal for me works wonders, and it's incredibly easy to use and very feature-rich :) another nod for touchpal
Guest Lisbian08 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Touch Pal for me works wonders, and it's incredibly easy to use and very feature-rich :) +1 for TouchPal
Guest wcparry Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Hmm, I will try both Resco and SPB, and dig up Touch Pal. I have them from a previous unit. 'Cept TouchPal, That would make this 6.5 load (Not sure which one I have at the moment, since I've been flashing, reflashing, adding and removing things from about a half dozen over the last few days) more than tolerable. Guest natedawg1013 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Not trying to hijack the thread, just adding to the list of problems: I also have an auto-correct problem on the new CF03 ROM. It sometimes tries to correct me with things that don't even make sense. For example, if I type"some text", it might come out as "som.etext". No matter how many times I go back to fix it, it doesn't work. If I want to fix it, I have to bring the cursor back, without deleting anything yet, put in the space between e and t, THEN erase the period. If I do it in the other order, it just goes back to how it was.

That is basically what has been happening, I actually assumed that it was over-active correction, also assumed it was "Beta OS" related. Resco and SPB seem to help and/or alleviate all of it so far, and the skinning is really nifty. I still want to try out TouchPal before figuring out what I want. Edited August 8, 2009 by wcparry
