Guest Itlooksfast Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 I have been having a lot of issues with getting the GPS to work properly. I have flashed the Released ROM twice..followed all procedures: GPS location on..soft reset...go outside with a clear view...get a lock...got the lock. After that I soft reset due to other reasons. It seems to work fine the first couple of times then it just seem to cant get a lock. It doesnt matter where I am at...parking lot, rooftop, highway, interstate or at home. I can barely get a lock 30% of the time...the rest was just long wait for it lock up. I have tried all different GPS aid like GPS toggle...Quick GPS and all the goodies. Nothing! So im thinking its probably the GPS chip thats defective. Which I was right. I was playing volleyball and it rained really hard all of sudden. So my phone got wet and it died completely. So i was kinda happy since im getting a replacement which was something I wanted (plus i had insurance on the phone lol) Got the phone. Flashed the released ROM and didnt do anything else but turn the GPS setting to LOCATION ON and soft reset and check the box and close the message during the reboot. Installed Google Maps. Ran it and bam! got a lock in like 2 minutes standing outside. I shut the phone off and then turn it back on again. Drove about 5 miles away (doing some errands). Established a data connection and then ran Google Maps again and within 30 seconds I got a lock. Im like wow!!! can it be??? The next morning, driving to work on I-95 Interstate I tested it out again. Got a lock in like 30 seconds. I was happy as hell. This was last week. Now for the last two days..my GPS started acting up again. Its taking longer to get a lock. Im not doing or going anywhere different. And im doing the same procedures everytime....established a connection and have a clear view. I still get a lock but longer and sometimes I have to soft reset or like basically close everything and re-do the procedures again. Then recently, it started showing that i'm somewhere in a foreign that I dont even recognize or like in the middle of the ocean. I have to like soft reset and restart everything all over just to get a lock. Sooo if aGPS is really working and Verizon did really UNLOCK the GPS...why is it showing that im in a foreign country when in Washington, DC? It even says that MY LOCATION IS WITHIN 60 METERS (off the mysterious location) And why am I still having problem getting a lock like 50% of the time. So is this another bad GPS chip? or Verizon lied to us again? I mean I get locks and accurate location but sometimes its sooo way off. I mean im reading posts from people saying they get a lock inside their houses with just one or two service bars..im here struggling, still, with full service with a clear view lol Sorry for the long post..I just want my GPS to work properly. I'm running Bgills lite m2d V1.5 cooked ROM just fyi. If anyone experiencing the same problem please share and if anyone can help me...please do!
Guest mygraine Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Mine thinks that i am in croatia... i ran Bee Line the other day and noticed that while google earth thought i was in croatia, Bee Line stated my current elevation to be at -47000 ft. so i think that the gps on the phone is kinda funny and not working right
Guest Itlooksfast Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 LOL wow no one can help or have any input about this?
Guest dmk679 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 LOL wow no one can help or have any input about this? Not sure why it is doing this on your device esp since you had solid locks before. If you always had this problem then I would say it was a defective gps chip. Based on my testing, if I modify settings in NVRAM via QXDM or QPST for GPSONE then I get the same result as you...showing me in a different country on initial load of gmaps. My recommendation would be to load QPST, go into GPSONE tab and enable GPSONE by checking at least the following options: Allowed, GPS almanac, GPS ephemeris. This link over in howardforums talks about getting you setup with QPST. You can find QPST via torrents. Let us know if this does the trick.
