Guest stylus1828 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) I found this on the xda developers and i believe it's a nice interface for our today screen. The only problem is that is for qvga devices. I've installed it on my omnia and it worked, but the only problem is that the icons are strached and pixeled. The animations and graphics are very smooth. Here are some screenshots with the interface. Would anyone be so kind to fix the icons and port it to wqvga to suit our omnia? Here is the official thread on xda develpers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544813 The interface is in the language that your windows mobile devices has. Video with the UI - Download here MOTO_HOMEScreen_WQVGA.CAB - http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach...st&id=36403 Download here MOTO_HOMEScreen_WQVGA_builds_23XXX.CAB - http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach...st&id=36405 Thank you SECTOR Edited August 14, 2009 by stylus1828
Guest stylus1828 Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Sooo... the 3 persons that download it... whats your opinion about this UI?
Guest jhickey Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 A little slow to load on the pictures, and I wish it had a music player tab, but overall, it's a pretty sexy homescreen.
Guest Michael122w Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Sooo... the 3 persons that download it... whats your opinion about this UI? I really like this interface - might just be because its new and shiney. It is a little like a Manilla 2d, Samsung Today 2 and android. It is pretty simple and not very customisable, but seems to be well thought out. It would be nice if they we could get the RSS feeds to work. I wonder how long it will take me to get bored with this home screen :)
Guest jason07 Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 If this was converted to fit WQVGA properly it would definitely be my favourite. So fast, smooth and easy - like Android cross with SPB.
Guest zagzag99 Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 It's nice. I've switched to it... to try to get a feel if it satisfies my needs. The UI is a bit stretched but It's not unworkable. If it will be converted to WQVGA it will probably rock.
Guest Skel1t Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 Great home screen! i would LOVE seeing this on WQVGA!
Guest Richard713 Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 The UI is a bit stretched but It's not unworkable. is it worth switching from manila 2d?
Guest zagzag99 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 is it worth switching from manila 2d? I find it more cheerful than Manila 2D. And it seems to work smoother, from my experience. But it's just a matter of taste, you can't force someone to like it or not.
Guest DJRedLine Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Installed it and it works pretty well. It definately needs to be resized to fit correctly but as it is it is workable. Like the way you can have your weather as your background. Also like the way you can easily add and move items to the the quick launcher (top toolbar)
Guest invd Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Hmmm, tried to resize some .tga files....but thats not the whole deal...
Guest DJRedLine Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Hmmm, tried to resize some .tga files....but thats not the whole deal... looks like the '_application.xml' is the main file that is required to be amended as it contains a lot of width/height fields. Has anyone go the RSS tab to work? How do you add favourites to the internet tab? when i click to add it opens up opera but then does nothing (i do have favourites)
Guest DJRedLine Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 just tested the _application.xml edited the following line - usage="DEFAULT_TEXT"> <MMITextImage text="No upcoming appointments" decocolor="0xFF333333" stroke="outline" bold="true" x="0" y="0" size="10" color="0xFFFFFFFF" clip="ellipsis" align="left" valign="vcenter" clipwidth="160" clipheight="32"> and changed the size from 12 to 10 and now the full text appears in the calendar section
Guest stylus1828 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Indeed it's a nice interface. Maybe someone will try to resize the icons and grafics.

Good find :)
Guest jason07 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) I played with a few of the icons/backgrounds etc (just increased the canvas height 25%, and adjusted/edited images to fit) and they work well. FAR too much effort to even think about doing every icon etc, and even if you did, things like scroll bars and certain icons might not fit together properly. Edited August 11, 2009 by jason07

Yeah i have messed around with a few of the .tga files and changed the colours to give the application a bit more to it than the standard grey/white it currently has. So far everything is working fine.
Guest corwest Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 I really like this setup :) I think people will take it far.
Guest xfallen Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 this today setup is very nice i would really like it wqvga optimized and smoother and i really hope someone would take it under his wing , as i dont know any programing thing or i would have tried it .
Guest zagzag99 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 This is the _application.xml I am using. I only changed it so that it's using more of the 400px in Height. And that the Menu Carousel will be closer to the Soft Buttons bar. P.S. I use RotationService to make sure it won't rotate to portrait, because this Today doesn't support such mode._application.xml

Thanks Menu carousel looks much better
Guest Th3rmal Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 I just tested it, and its awesome except for a few points. 1. The stretched images :) 2. The slow image loading 3. When you go into slideshow then come out, your screen is screwed up
Guest jonski89 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 help needed.... no contact softkey shortcut... it doesnt do anything... any solution???
Guest jackdaniel Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 I've found it very nice, it realy feels smooth and fast. the feedback and feelings are very good, I think it gives a better feeling than m2d. In spite of the non stretched to our screen size it is quick and interesting, another option for skinning our omnia.
Guest sector Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 Here is what i got so far after some tweaks and help from xda:
