The title obviously goes without saying but do be careful. If you brick your Omnia i910 chances are you will no longer have one. Accidentally bricked mine and the Verizon store said they no longer have any to replace mine with so I am being sent a Blackberry Storm instead.

Ok, here's what you do.. You have 30 days to return that Storm.. Within the next 30 days, the Omnia II will be released, so you need to return that Storm and get the Omnia II instead :) ;) ;)

Oh, there would have been a revolution in that store if they tried to give me a Storm! Give me a TP or even a high end dumbphone but not a damn blackberry!

How did you brick it to begin with? I've noticed my touchscreen is starting to get unresponsive in certain areas and when you look at it in a certain angle, it looks sort of warped. I actually kind of WANT to brick it to get a replacement.

Try flashing it with the CF03 official ROM... then pull the plug in the middle of it. :)

Yep. It's not your fault if the phone just died through no fault of your own. (wink, wink)

The beauty of it is, you don't really even have to lie. Just tell them you were flashing to the official Verizon/Samsung CF03 ROM, and your phone bricked. You can just leave out the part where you "accidentally" tripped and pulled the cord out of your Omnia. :)

Don't take it out on them. They have no clue until Big Red tells them something. That usually doesn't happen until 2 weeks after it is available.

Also, the leaked date is from Best Buy and might be wrong.

Umm this is actually what I did. I didn't want to say that at first because in other forums I would have been flamed for having bad morals. Yea my screen was scratched pretty bad so I was trying to get a replacement. I'm gonna try out the Storm and see if I like it. If I don't I'll prolly sell it on ebay and then buy an Omnia off of ebay. lol

This is a replacement phone though, I didn't purchase a new one. I don't think they'll let me switch to the Omnia II. They gave me the options of Storm, HTC Ozone, and Samsung Saga. I chose the Storm over the two WM phones because the Saga and Ozone are freaking fugly. Like seriously, I'd prolly puke every time I pulled the phone out of my pocket.

I hear that. My brother has a storm and it really is nicer than the other choices on VZW now. Only thing is the storm is kind of heavy and it seriously takes almost 5- 10 minutes to boot.

Verizon has something called "multi-exchange policy." As per that policy if you receive 2 defective devices within 90 day period and you report it to verizon for the third time you may qualify for a same or lesser value of another phone which has similar features.

For example if you purchase your phone on 01/01/09. That one stops working and you get a replacement (certified like-new) device on 06/01/09. Then another one on 07/01/09. If the phone you received last starts acting up again and you report this to Verizon Wireless within 90 days from 06/01/09 you qualify for a replacement.

By the way make sure you are not eligible for any other upgrade option such as early upgrade or alternate upgrade. And one more thing by getting another phone you agree to extend your upgrade eligibility for 20 months from that day.

In your case if the one you get next is not working either you can qualify for a new phone (same or lesser value alike phone such as storm) What phone you qualify to get is almost always up to the person who is handling your issue. If the tech or customer service person is nice to you or they are nice to them they may get you anything you want. If you bi&%$ and moan you will get palm centro :)

How do I know all this? I work for Flextronics.

And if you REALLY bi|ch and moan, they may just give you a credit towards a new phone, like the Omnia II :)

I seriously want to try and see if bricking it will get me an omnia 2 when it comes out. I'm so scared to do it though lol! My fear is that i'll brick it, and since you know VZW employees work off commission, they'll be like sorry all we can give you is a Saga... I'd be like nooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe not brick it with the CF03 flash, but only a PDA flash, like a custom ROM, so that it wont boot up all the way. That way if they say no, you can just say forget it, come home, and flash the custom ROM again and it will un-brickafy it, lol..

Please be aware that whatever method you're trying to do to brick the phone in order to get a new phone is considered as fraud.

Of course it is. My appologies for not making that more clear.
