Just got off the phone with Vzw

Y'all probably already know this but just thought i would tell what i found out. (the story) My phone wouldn't charge so had to take into verizon to have serviced. They said it was still under warranty but they couldn't replace it because none of the stores had any so i would have to call verizon. Call customer support and they said they couldn't find any in any wharehouse either and had to send me to vzw internal. Talked to internal and they found one. I asked her was the omnia discontinued and she said yes and no. Verizon is not making any more and basically all they have are replacement phone. I asked her was it because of the omnia 2 and she hesitated and said ummm i think so but i can't say. I asked her if she knew of the release date (like se would tell me) she said no and told me that i had a 100 credit and i should hold it for the end of the month or very early next month

Your insurance is through Asurion. It's completely separate from Verizon. If you have to make an insurance claim you'll be fine.

That's messed up. If you read the Asurion terms and conditions, they have to give you some kind of device that is similar. Di you tell it was either an Omnia or nothing?

Umm, remember the word similar? They consider the Storm a smartphone so it is similar to them. Even if it is not similar to you.

I've had 2 replaced with NEW off the shelf omnias.. because they don't carry "reman" ones..

I simply tweeked and told them i needed to talk to a manager... I NEED my phone for work!!!!...anyway.... the more customers that there are in the "viewing" room the better... I have 3 chargers and 3 sync cable too...

my pnone was "bricked" twice... because of manufacturer defects of course... not any of my doing....

So if I wanted to replace my omnia via warranty theres a good chance they might not be able to give me another Omnia? Or do they constantly receive refurbished ones to send out?

Hm... I have $50 lying around. In a day or two I'll go and say I "lost my omnia". I need a new one anyways.

I think that operator was B.Sing you. for 1 the omnia can still be ordered from the vzw website, and 2 I can still order them for my indirect store so they may have been out of stock at the time you called. and also Asurion almost always sends a refurbished phone, sometimes you get lucky and they send brand new ones. I did an insurence claim about 2 months ago and Asurion sent me a brand new in the box omnia with all accessory.

I just got my refurbed replacement phone last Friday. There wasn't any hesitation from the V store employee to get me another one.

My phone has been hanging up lately (to the tune of 3 or 4 times a day)... black screen... back of unit gets very hot and drains battery. You have to reset it with the pinhole or take battery out. I went into the VZW store today and they told me the same thing that they couldn't swap it out and that I'd have to call Customer Service to troubleshoot the issue.

Having already troubleshot it with going back to Stock VZW firmware, numerous hard resets, not installing any apps behind what was included, not even setting up email sync ... still locking up... I'm pretty sure something isn't happy with the phone. I had to get a tad 'noisy' in the store full of people before he went ahead and setup to have a replacement shipped to my house 2day shipping. He indicated that it was against the store policy to troubleshoot any PDA phone issues.

My new Omnia (i910) was about 3 months old - always had the calibration 'problem'. Finally got sick of it, called Vzw service Monday, and after the lady walked me through her various scripts (resetting, redoing calibration, etc) she said they would ship me a new i910. On Wednesday I had it and it works perfectly.

So they are still replacing the i910s... :D

May not mean anything, but BGR had a story saying that Best Buy had the VZW Omnia II dated for 8/23/09. That is tomorrow. I will be heading to BB for the Zune HD preview tomorrow, so I will scope it out and ask some questions. With any luck, I will see both my new PMP and phone in the same day. Too bad my contract is not up for renewal till the end of the year.

I was not too surprised that BB did not have them, and the employees were clueless... of course. However, I was in awe of the Zune HD. If only we could get its keyboard on the omnia...
