Copy/Pasted from vodafone forum (i hope someone here can help)

_______________________________________________________

This started about two months back, my phone wouldnt charge via the wall charger and only charged via USB charger. Ive checked, and other chargers from different samsung models all seem to work, but then cut out after.

Now I have the same problem as another user on this forum - the phone turns itself on when charging from wall while its off. However this is when I plug the charger in, once it is turned on the phone doesnt charge. It will however charge if I connect it via USB to a computer.

There is a big fault with my phones mobo (or other internal HARDWARE). The reason I am 99% sure of this is that:

* The phone only charges once the PC is logged on and has access to ActiveSync / Device Center

* The phone turns itself on when the wall charger is connected, but wont charge once on.

* The phone MUST be on to charge from USB, and OFF to charge from wall, so it wont charge from wall.

I took my phone to the local dealer (airtel-vodafone, Guernsey) and some guy filled a form and said to return when ive backed up my info. Well I wasnt able to back it up until 2 days ago due to the ###### samsung software and their lack of software support. I finally used PIM backup to save my contacts.

I would in any normal circumstances take my phone in now, but there is a small problem. im leaving for a cruise in 3 days time so i only have 2 days to sort this out, i know big problem i shud av done it earlier but i couldnt coz the ###### backup software!

Now back to the reasons I am sure it is the hardware:

* Ive tried to fix it myself. I hard reset the device but to no avail.

* I flashed the device to a newer samsung ROM but that also helped not atall

* I flashed the device to the latest samsung ROM but that has also done nothing.

So now you know my situation, please help smile.gif

I know i get a replacement phone when it is sent in, but i need a PDA phone because my heavy internet usage. Would I be able to exchange my phone - ie give it in because it is broken, and have a new one returned, or failing that could i pay a sum of money to give it in and have a new one, again because it has a hardware fault.

If not is it likely for me to be given a PDA in return while I send it in?

Honestly Im so confused and now tired of this problem. I dont think it is fixable by you (Vodafone) or samsung as this is only one of the problems, others include device disconnection, poor bluetooth and other randoms.

Now ill let you all in on a secret:

Yes i hard reset about 5 times but I only used shokka9 Wm6.5 ROM - dont tell vodafone tho coz im scared itll void my warrenty, the phones only 9 months old. I had my nokia for 4 yrs :)

Help would be great.

I don't know how it is there. but here (vzw) we take our's into service center and if they can't repair it in 45 min and it is under warranty the have to give us a new phone....... Well that has been my experience. If they have it in stock they shpuld warranty the defective equipt right there and now.

I'm 90% sure it's your battery's voltage regulator chip. You'll most likely need a new battery.

I doubt whether a new battery will fix this problem, since I did so!!

I experienced the same problem 4 months back! :) I took it to a samsung service centre and I got a new phone at the end of the day as it had warrenty cover. <_< So it would better you to take it to the nearest service centre ASAP with the receipt of purchase of your omnia. Unless they may charge you a fixed fee (around GBP 45) ;)

There was a topic on this suject under i900 general dicussion if my memory is correct. It would better you to read before-hand and I hope this will help. ;)

We dont have any samsung service centers as far as i know, and i bought the phone from Airtel-Vodafone (Airtel from India, partnered with Vodafone UK) and they seem to know nothing about high-end phones or their problems :)

As an alternative you can post it!! But you could give try on the following url and get in touch with samsung help desk. samsung's after sale service considered to be very good and I have a very good impression with their service too.

Hope this will help!
