Hello,

Because of the new build of 6.5 (23025) and the X button moved to the bottom of the screen I need some alternative to the HTC Taskmanager (to close the programs with the X button). Any suggestions that work? WakuTask isn't helping here because it's ugly and not fully working with wm 6.5.

First are you using i900 or i910? Have you tried Showcase? I didn't know that anyone had made a ROM with 23025 in it.

i900. Never tried Showcase - does it close programs when you press the X ?

It does, but it will not work with the new 23025 either. In fact, I don't know of a 3rd party Task Manager that will work with the newest ROM.

its a new concept, most programs will not support up untill an update.

use the omnia default task switcher application for the time being.

Yeha, this is true. I know the task switcher has annoyed alot of people but it is pretty convernient at times. Swipe, end all, bam you're done.

I have a slightly different question. I used HTC task manager mainly just for the 'tap X to close' function and I really miss that with the new interface.

I remember way back in the era of PPC 2002 there was a program from Spb that had a function which turned X into a real close button. I know there's no alternative to HTC task manager, but how about just a way to make X close instead of minimize? I tried installing HTC task manager, setting it to not display the drop-down menu in the top taskbar but to close when I tap X, but it doesn't work anyway.

HTC Task Manager intercepts the location of the close button. Since that has been moved it doesn't work any more. I've read that Quick Menu still works because it uses agshell.dll (this is what controls the close button). So, if there is another task manager that works this way then it should work.

I've tried Quick Menu, no doesn't work when you tap the "ok" on the screen. However, it works when you set one of your buttons to ok/close.

Thanks for your help guys... I just went back to the older builds with the old UI for now, lots of stuff is still buggy with it. Hopefully by the time they work that out at Microsoft someone comes up with a new task manager.

The best is wktask, is litghtweigth and have a lot of settings, the bad thing is for today is a little old.

Other is showcase, is ligthweigth too, have a minimal options, but have a modern look.

I use showcase.

That looks nice, but does it close the apps or just minimize them?

So you assign a hardware key to it, and when you press the button and the little previews show up you can touch one to close it? It seems like it would just switch to the program, and when you press the X it would just minimize like before. I was looking to edit the behavior of the X button, not a task switcher.

With Task Facade if you long press on the application then a red dot appears in the corner. When you then go to another application the application you long pressed on is closed. Any if you looking to change the X button behavior you should look into WA3
