Guest Juliano.net Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Hi, I saw some topics about customizing Omnia's interface so it works almost like WM6.5. I'd like to know if this can bring problems to my Omnia system?
Guest bpivk Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Hi, I saw some topics about customizing Omnia's interface so it works almost like WM6.5. I'd like to know if this can bring problems to my Omnia system? Why would you want to customize it if you can just install a 6.5 rom and get it over with. I can guarantee you that you'll have less problems (shortage of device memory, etc.) this way. Believe me I have tried.
Guest Juliano.net Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 I'm new to the "WM world". I saw some ROMs too, but I'm not sure which is better. Which do you suggest me and where can I find an app to backup / restore the omnia system?
Guest bpivk Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 You'll have to try the rom to see which one you like the most and then use it. You can find a how to flash your phone topic in the rom section. The app is called sktools, pim backup, and there are more apps. Some are freeware some have to be bought. You have to know what you want to backup but keep in mind that you can't backup the software because the registry in 6.1 vs 6.5 is different.
Guest Mike178 Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Hi, i have seen that u are looking to winmo 6.5 i suggest that you try this one, it is nice and very stable.. http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...ka9-wm6-5-roms/ make sure to read all the first page on how to flash and what u need to do after flashing if u chose to install the above rom.. download the 3 parts and then unzip the first part only.. and run the installer from the unzipped first part... install version v18 what u should know.. 1) make sure you have samsung omnia I900 ( because roms differ between I900 and I910 and I908) 2) you should use a pc runing windows XP it doesn't run on windows vista 3) you should install activesynch 4.5 and restart ur pc 4) you should install samsumg usb modem driver and then restart 5) connect ur phone to the pc and make sure it is connected and synched 6) unplug ur phone and restart both phone and pc 7) after both are booted.. unzip the downloaded folder then open it and run the installer 8) then switch off ur phone and plug it with the usb cable and then turn it on after it is connected u will see the start botton in the installer active.. click it and wait till it install the new rom ... after it is finished u will see job done in the installer.. now u can unplug your phone and configure it.. for a detailed tutorial on how to flash a rom go here http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...00-omnia-phone/ good luck...
Guest Juliano.net Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Basically I want to backup my ROM so if there's any problem with the WM6.5 ROM, I'll be able to rollback the proccess.
Guest Mike178 Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) Basically I want to backup my ROM so if there's any problem with the WM6.5 ROM, I'll be able to rollback the proccess. basically u cannot backup ur rom.. there is a way to do that but i do not think it is accurate.. but u can check the following thread how to convert back to official rom http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...rsion-tutorial/ what i can say, that if u load a winmo6.5 from one of the chefs u will never think to get back to winmo6.1 :) u will experience a totally different enjoyable experience with omnia... i used to change phones every 2 month))) now i love my omnia, every week new rom)))) sometimes i flash twice a day just to try a rom))) today i flashed a rom just to try it and now i will rollback to shokka rom))) the only thing that make u return to 6.1 is if somthing happen to your mobile and need to repair it under the warranty.. otherwise u will never need to revert to 6.1 specially if ur warranty is over... Guest Juliano.net Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Ok. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
Guest pacman9889 Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 well before you go bricking your phone, you should make sure whether you have an i910 or i900. If you have a US phone under Veri*on, you will really mess up your phone if you try and flash with the linked rom. I would suggest doing a little research before you jump into anyone's advice.
Guest bpivk Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) He's from brazil so he should have a i900. Edited August 13, 2009 by bpivk
