Guest vlodek Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) I am on Sector 23009 M2D ROM . The autokilling problem starts when the program memory in use goes over about 51% or free memory is less then about 48Mb. Is it because of the PP ? Please report what 6.5 ROMs doesn't have this problem ? Edited August 16, 2009 by vlodek

Shokka9 and Ryrzy are not using Page Pool so maybe there is the problem , not in WM itself .
Guest naynada Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) Shokka9 and Ryrzy are not using Page Pool so maybe there is the problem , not in WM itself . The possible causes behind the autokill issue have been discussed at length in http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...ions-by-itself/ and http://www.modaco.com/content/forum/290636...utes-on-wm-6-5/ You may like to try http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-so...ce-under-wm6-x/ as a workaround for now, until Microsoft fixes it (if ever). It will prevent autokilling for many applications. Edited August 17, 2009 by naynada

I red these topics but i still don't have answer to the following question : does the autokilling problem appears also in the last ROMs without Page Pool ? Edited August 17, 2009 by vlodek

Guest naynada Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I'm not sure, however I suspect they would have the autokilling issue if enough background apps are installed. Reducing/removing page pool would simply release more RAM (I think?) at the cost of reduced performance. I did recently try a page pool free rom, but found it too sluggish for my liking. So I didn't bother seeing if autokill was present. I find that on each fresh flash/hard reset I do, there is no autokill issue. However, as soon as I start installing apps that run constantly eg. S2U2, ph0nex, Panoramic Launchpad, wktask, THEN things start going funny. Hence, I'd say this points to RAM/number of processes as the trigger for autokill. Based on this hypothesis, I stopped using AE Button Plus, RotationService, mplug - things I could live without. As a result, I now usually have ~55 - 60MB ram free, ~ 23 processes, and can run 2 programs simultaneously without fear of autokill. Stable enough for me :D Otherwise, EverApp is a good alternative to play with. Or, you could be the guinea pig and test out Ryrzy, shokka's roms and report back ^^ hehe. Hope I helped
Guest esian Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 vlodek this is right, I speak badly. The 6.5 roms that I try are: 23016-NeoTitanium Khuanchai_UL_M2D_23016-21928_PP6 DXID1_Zeus_23009_Lite Khuanchai_Omnia_UltraLite_21928_PP6 DXID1_23007_Z1LiteBlack DXID1_23001_X1 Khuanchai_Omnia_Lite_21820_vW1 I'm not sure is the problem come with the pagepool, and about app like s2u2, htc taskmanager... and others task manager, i remove alls, and when is imposible to remove, i disable it (htc task manager can be disabled, and others can disable from startup). After disable all, i still have the killing apps. Shokka9 and Ryrzy are not using Page Pool so maybe there is the problem , not in WM itself .
