Guest semmtexx Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) It's called SetVolume. Over at XDA, MarcLandis has made a nifty, finger friendly volume control app. It runs in the background upon starting it initially and seems to work pretty well. Only very minor bugs so far as far as I can tell, like sometimes I have to restart it. I've been using it for a few hours now. There is a download for QVGA but, it seems to work fine on the Omnia. Landscape, however is sort of over to the left side, but still functions correctly. This can probablyt be fixed editing the image files (I don't know much about that). Read the first post for all the details. There are transparent skins but to get them to work you need the config exe and you need it to be in the setvolume folder. Here are some screenies from my device!! Try it out! EDIT: I did edit the image backgroundL.png to 400X240 so it would cover the screen but other than that, get everything centered in landscape I have not tried yet. Edit Again: This also could relieve some frustration on the new Bgill rom where pressing end doesn't exit the new, gigantic winmo volume control. Guest blazingwolf Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 This has been around for awhile. Good program but still has bugs. I had planned to use it in my ROM a couple of months ago but did not due to the bugs.

Guest blazingwolf Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Oh, cool. This new version seems pretty stable. I like. Hmm. I might have to eat my words. Did not realize this was a new version. Thanks for telling me. I will try this out. :D

Guest HellboyMC Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I miss two buttons to separate volume and phone sound, otherwise it's good, but the circle big volume control is still better looking and all.
Guest jason07 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 If you tap the word "System Volume" at the top, it switches to the bell volume option.
Guest Jeanne8fr Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Hmm. I might have to eat my words. Did not realize this was a new version. Thanks for telling me. I will try this out. :D The problem with this program is that it takes over the up/down buttons so that when you use the camera, you can't zoom in/out anymore.. That's a killer as far as I know. Guest Zealster Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Looks exactly like s2u2.. The only problem I have with s2u2 is the keyboard hook doesn't work very well lately. :D
Guest gianton Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Tried SetVolume but I like more Volumex has more features.

Guest semmtexx Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Tried SetVolume but I like more Volumex has more features. Volumex does look pretty tight. I can't believe I've never heard of it before!
Guest dolch Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Got problems to get it working as Samsung Volume opens faster..
Guest blazingwolf Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Still has the bug with the volume taking over when in the camera. This prevents zoom in or out. So, this will not appear in my ROM.
Guest Grassguy Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Looks exactly like s2u2.. The only problem I have with s2u2 is the keyboard hook doesn't work very well lately. :D You have to turn off 'disable keyboard hook' in avanced settings w/ s2u2.

Zooming in and out with the omnia is a farce anyway because it's just like zooming digitally into a photo. You may as well take a piccy at fully zoomed out and crop it later :D

Guest semmtexx Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Guys, i had the same issue with the camera and so i uninstalled it...Using volumex now! However I like the look of setvolume better! Oh well...
Guest dwallersv Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 This is literally the S2U2 volume control without the ringer volume. If you're using S2U2, run the configuration app, go to the Phone section, turn on "Volume Control" and "Volume Control with Transparent BG" and you'll exactly this, plus the seperate ringer volume. The big advantage to either this, or the S2U2 volume control is it has 3x the granularity of the standard WM6 or Samsung volume controls. As for the camera zoom issue, for me at least this is NOT a problem if I have the kbd hook enabled. Remember that the feature has reverse logic: When it's "ON" the hook is disabled. Switch it off and enable the hook.

Switch it off and enable the hook. It is not the S2U2 volume control. It does look like it and that is because they both use the HTC volume look. Set Volume can be skinned in any way you want and was created by a different person. Also, it does have the ringer volume. You just tap on the word system to get to the ringer.
Guest Jeanne8fr Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 If you like the iPhone look I modified the skin to fit the Omnia. I didn't design the skin, just modified it. The credit goes to him: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...p;postcount=401 JeannetteOmnia_iPhone_Skin.zip
Guest semmtexx Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Hmmm.. someone just needs to make a transparent skin for volumex cause it works pretty damn well so far (I swear I have tried EVERYTHING and still cannot figure out how simply take a PNG image and make it transparent!!! ARGH!!)

Need to replace link "MitsCamera" and add 1 file to \Windows ... :D Bug_FIX_CameraLoader.rar Edited August 19, 2009 by BARBOSS
Guest dwallersv Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Okay, okay... I stand corrected regarding this control and S2U2. Still, seems a triviality (unless one wants a different skin). If you're already a user of S2U2, this volume control, with the stock skin, buys you nothing except wasting some space.
