Guest krelvinaz Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I have a spare Omnia i910 that I can play with without effecting my use of my phone that I depend on to work for business. I have been looking at the various 6.5 Custom Roms to see which one if any I might want to try. If it looks okay, I would then flash my main phone with it. One thing that I find interesting is the inclusion of apps that change a lot in some of the custom roms. I don't really understand why you would do that. Google Maps for example. They change often and they are easy to install, so why would you include that in the ROM? It also appears that people use Rom upgrades as a way to update these types of programs. Personally, I would pref to find a Rom and stick with it as I don't have time to play rebuild each time I try a new Rom. Is there a recap somewhere of the various Custom Roms, so that someone could be better educated on which ones might be good for them?

I don't know of a good summation, but I can give you a quick rundown. Each ROM builder puts things and toys in that they use and like. Most of it is personal preference. Adrnalyne (on PPCgeeks) has a couple of good version. He has a great "base" ROM. That one is stripped of almost everything so you can put exactly what you want on. I recommend that ROM if you are particular about what you want on your phone. Blazingwolf has an excellent MS3 ROM, if you use that interface. BGgill55 makes great ROMs as well, he has a M2D and a Titanium version. His ROMs have tons of features and programs. Techmaster and Mr. Capcom also make ROMs. I have not flashed their ROMs, and don't know very much about them, but I'm sure they are good as well. Take a look at the screenshots and lists of what is in and out on each ROM. If all else fails try 2 or 3 of them. It only takes 5 minutes to flash.
Guest krelvinaz Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks... that was very helpful.
Guest ugzz Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 so has anyone out there really jumped around and tried a number of the 6.5 roms? I can get used to just about any interface, but i am looking for a good rom that does not have a ton of bugs. I flashed to capicoms rom and it seemed pretty good, but i just wasnt sold. I was looking at a few others and alot of people were complaining about bugs with scrolling through call logs and other things of the sort, I use my phone for basically just me and to mess around with 90% of the time. But i do use it for work the other 10%. So im totally into using a cooked 6.5 rom, but need something that is at least useable as a daily phone and not just a toy. any recommends? I should note i get my new phone today (old one has trouble with the touch screen) and am willing to try a few, but i really just don't have the patience to bounce around to 10 different roms and pick one, so im looking for good recommends. Thanks
Guest ugzz Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 nevermind. since i didnt get a reply quickly i got antsy and have just been trying them. ill post some results once ive had a day with each of the ones i choose. ill just plan on not geting comfy with the phone until i either pick one or just go back to the samsumg official flash for stability
Guest ugzz Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 i figured i would post my finding and my personal opinions. I have now used the following roms: Stock Rom the phone shipped with samsung CF03 Blazingwolf NIGHT 1.4 Blazingwolf MS3 1.4 Bgills WM6.5 1.7 MrCapcom Cf03 V4 I have had stability issues with all of the roms, including the samsing CF03 official one. for total stability i would say the only way to get things as perfect as you can would be to leave the phone alone. That said, the most stable of the above (for me and in only about 4-10 hours of testing each) would be Blazingwolf Night 1.4. Right now i am running the Samsung CF03 because i just keep telling myself that i has to be stable, its "official" but i am getting random lock ups and the screen states "We're Sorry". and i often have to pull the battery. After either i test the official rom for the rest of the day, or i get fed up with it. I can pretty much guarantee that ill be switching back to blazingwolf NIGHT 1.4. No disrespect to ANY of the chefs here, there was something about pretty much Every rom that i really liked. and i think you all rock and are awesome. and in no way am i even saying that blazingwolfs rom is "better". Im simply saying that in my short amount of testing i have concluded that for me and what i do, it is the most stable. A big thank you to all the chefs
