Guest justj Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I hope someone can help me out here. I wasn't able to install any apps on sd card, only able to install on the device memory. This is very strange, because I never had this problem before with my other WMs. Is this the restriction of Orange Tg01 or am I missing something here? :D Help, please!
Guest Neil5459 Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Is the SD card inserted properly? Can you see the card using File Explorer? There are no restrictions as to installing apps to the SD card- I've installed a few but due to the SD card corruption issue am keeping most programs installed to main memory. The TG01 has ample main memory so it's only really large programs that need installing to a card. How are you trying to install? Do you have the TG01 tethered to the PC? If so, make sure you are connected using Activesync, not in Disk Drive mode (Settings/Connections/USB to PC); while connected to the PC is Disk Drive mode to SD card is demounted from the Windows Mobile OS, so the card won't appear as a valid location.
Guest justj Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I can see and use the sd card alright, just cannot install apps onto it. Everytime I try to install anything on sd card it always fail and ask me to install to the main storage. I have a lot (almost 20) of apps on the main storage already and would like to install some on the sd card but it doesn't work. I use cab file exclusively cause I couldn't install anything to my phone using my vista pc(don't ask me why). the Rom on tg01 isn't big, it's only 284mb, and mine is almost full with only 50mb left.
Guest Neil5459 Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Hmm- thats an odd one then. Have you tried removing and reinserting the card, or even tried a different card? Are you using the Toshiba card it was supplied with? Are there any 'rogue' folders on the card? Try going Settings/System/Memory and see how much space is free on the card.
Guest leeston2379 Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) I had this problem with TomTom but no other apps, solved it by installing .NET 3.5. Don't know if that should make a difference but it did for me. I'm no expert Heres the link to .Net 3.5 Edited August 19, 2009 by leeston2379

Thank you for your answer. I've never thought that it could be the sd card that was causing the problem because I can read and write files onto it. Just tested with my old 2gb sd card and everything seems fine, I can install apps onto it with no problem. Do I need to format the Toshiba 8gb card for it to run properly?? If so, which formart should I use? fat32?

I used this one as suggested by someone in the card corruption post, Pannasonic SD Formatting software Don't know if it will make any difference, might just be a duff card.
