Guest rmac Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Hello, everyone. Though our devices are definitely not yet considered "obselete," the rate of technology advances at such an astronomical pace, and we'll surely see interest in our wqvga devices falter. Screen resolution will continue to improve, sound quality and mobile apps will start to gather more rapidly, operating systems and platforms will advance and diversify, and we'll eventually get to a point where forums and communities are based completely on our handheld devices, if they still exist to this degree at all. I'm sure Omnia II will need our talented cooks to sift through the bloatware, and their efforts will easily be more focused on that, with good reason, and day by day I visit the forums seeing less questions, less ROM updates, and clearly less interest as the new wave of mobile devices is hitting shelves within a matter of weeks. So, basically, I'd like to really, sincerely, deep down thank all of the individuals who have made our Omnias great. Some of us cannot offer gratuity, but for those of us who can offer nothing else, I really deeply appreciate the countless hours each of us have spent striving to make these better. THANK YOU ALL.
Guest blazingwolf Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Don't give up on me yet. I think we will still have a few months before Verizon decides that it can give us the Omnia II. So, unless the HTC Diamond becomes way to attractive I will be here awhile yet. :D
Guest banderdragon Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 I am still quite happy with my phone. Igo8 is greatness (even have tom-tom for kicks). Plays my music well, esp through my BT headphones. i really like the size and the sleekness of the omnia. In effect, i think that i will be happy with this phone till it is no longer happy with me. I think the reason there are less questions is because we got most people's questions answered (search button FTW). I just look at 60+ posts for BW's night ROM and have no worries about my phone suffering from forced obsolescence.
Guest jaycarl Posted August 24, 2009 Report Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) When the Omnia came out it was priced at $250. Not willing to pay that much I waited for them to inevitably drop the price. Got it for $96 total (NE2) a few months after release. Will be doing exactly the same when O2 comes out (will pay more because all I have is discounted pricing). I'm sure many people do this so support for the Original Omnia will be around for a long time. And yes, this post is very premature. Edited August 24, 2009 by jaycarl
