It's looking for a GPS signal.

When you're on the main screen...do you see signal bars on the top left?

I use BAF GPS Toggle to get a lock before I start GXT and have no problems with it.

thx for the help i juz realized that it cant get signals indoors

use a gps function update. open frm start-setting-system-enhanced gps.. run update. start gmxt on outdoor... u'll get signal less than a minute

Would anyone be interested in uploading the USA map files - I don't have admin priveledges on the PC I use.

I have some of the transfer files directly from Garmin that run without admin prives - is there a possible other way to install US maps.

Rather than using the mapsource app from garmin

would be helpful -

and there is an app called QGPS which I think works ok- it uses info on satellite tracking data via data xfer- so the fix on SATs is much quicker.

Faster GPS fix

on Verizon - no plan/ wifi/ unlocked GPS - which means my phone is suspended due to non payment - no JOB hint- so all this free stuff helps a lot- so I can find my way to various locations over the other homeless folks

there are other ways to install maps on garmin but what u are asking is illegal and illegal apps or requests are not allowed here on modaco.

look around ( obviously not here) and u will find answers to ur questions.

omnia doesnt have a powerful gps chip in it, and therefore u cannot get strong signals fast or indoors.

i own another pda with gps ( SirfIII chipsets) and they are really stronger and more precise gps chipsets than what we have on the omnia, i get signals faster and indoors as well, but the one on omnia as well is not that bad i guess. i still get a fix under 30 sec when using garmin.
