Guest johnny64 Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Hello Omnians, My dearly beloved Omnia is dead after liquid damage. It happened in the worst case I've ever heard of. This is what happened. I left the phone in a bag with my wallet and other paper documents because it was raining that day and I didn't have any pockets to put the phone in. While driving my car my 9 year old son was holding the bag and suddenly he told me he had to womit. Before I knew it he womitted in the bag with my phone, wallet and other documents in it! I totally forgot my phone was in that bag he womitted in and stopped the car after 5 minutes to get everything out of the bag. I was freakin pissed as you can imagine but hey...it's just a phone, my son's wellbeing is more important to me. Anyways, has anybody ever had liquid damage repair on their phone fixed and is it gonna cost heaps? BTW I've sent the phone for repair to my service provider but they won't repair it. Cheers, Johnny
Guest Itlooksfast Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 I did. It happened somewhat the same way. I called them too and apparently they wont fix it. But luckily I had insurance so I got it replaced. But I think it has something to do with the processor or ROM or motherboard being fried. When mine got wet I let it sit for a day to dry up. When I turned it on, they was a lil pop and a flash. After that it was completely dead. But you could tell them that you brick your phone when you were flashing the Release ROM lol they probably replace it for free.

Not if the liquid strip indicators got wet, because then the warranty is voided.
Guest djonasty Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Right, the liquid-strip indicators-- anyone have any info about these? Who sells/makes similar indicators (for replacement, perhaps)? Would a pre-emptive covering of clear tape ruin them (when removed)? would the clear tape prevent liquid from marking them? What do they look like once marked? Not if the liquid strip indicators got wet, because then the warranty is voided.
Guest necosino Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 They become a solid red. Covering and uncovering them with tape will peel off the red lines printed on the top layer of them. Trying to alter or replace them constitutes fraud, and most likely you'd get ratted out.
Guest natedawg1013 Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) For the record, you can have the sticky side of the tape facing the indicator, then another smaller piece of tape with its sticky side attached to the sticky side of the larger piece. This creates a non-sticky portion around the indicator, and a ring of sticky tape around it.(Wow I overused the word "sticky") I may or may not use this technique :D . Ever since I took the battery cover off my RAZR on a humid day, and noticed a very red indicator... In that case, I'm preventing the indicator from committing fraud.(turning red without actually having gotten wet) Edited August 25, 2009 by natedawg1013
