Guest lichtkrieger Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Is there any way to increase the size of the Panorama pictures taken by the omnia. i wrote a thread in the samsung forum, but nobody did answer. I think it would be possible to make full (5MP) Panorama Pictures. (the cpu and ram should be enough, or not?) thx for answering ;D PCE
Guest ese89 Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 you need to use an app for omnia or just for winmo which can make bigger full size panorama pictures and works in this way: take one -> save -> take next -> save (...) -> join all together.. but that app doesnt exist for sure. so.. you can try take a few pics manualy, step by step and next use a app on your pc which will try to join them in one, panorama photo - it exists. ps. sorry for grammar
Guest Koofteh Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) I have no scientific basis, but I don't think the Omnia could handle stitching multiple 5MP photos together... my dual core computer makes a lot of noise and takes some time to stitch photos together even, so I don't think you can expect much from a mobile phone. You should just take full-resolution photos and stitch them on your computer if you're after panoramas since even if the Omnia could stitch 5MP photos it's detection algorithm is probably not as good as the ones found in desktop programs. Although not free, I use AutoPano Pro on the computer and it works really well - if the pictures you feed into are good, you can fully zoom into your 5MP photos and still not see where the photos have been joined together. I do love how the Omnia's camera automagically takes the photos as you move the phone though, that's one thing my computer (and camera) can't do. :D Edited August 23, 2009 by Koofteh

You're wrong. I had Nokia N82 (s60v3) before and it could stitch 12 pcs of 5MPix pictures together. I was using program named Panoman to take panorama pictures with full resolution. It's a shame that there is nothing like that for WM.

Okay, okay, my computer doesn't struggle too much with making panoramas but it does take a minute or two if there's a bunch of pictures to stitch. :D Perhaps Samsung made the panoramas so tiny so it wouldn't take long to stitch them up, about how long would it take to stitch big pictures on the Nokia? I remember seeing an app that could stitch photos on PocketPCs... this was way before PDAs even had cameras so I wonder if that program is still around and what resolution it can handle. I'll look into it.
Guest Dj Lukas Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Nokia needed about 3-5 minutes to stick 6 photos with 5MPix res. together. Maybe we will have app like this in some future. I hope

I hope Ha, that's a really long time! I found a hack to make the HTC Diamond's camera take full-res panos but didn't find any relevant entries in the Omnia's registry. So I would just reiterate my original point... unless you have an urgent need to make panoramas just take photos and stitch them up on your computer later. Better quality and probably takes a lot less time too.
