if you changed the contents of the file you need to resign it. try applying it without altering it first.

Yup, that's what I see, too. Presumably because the perms on /system/sd mean an ordinary app can't list it?

If you try viewing it with a root-enabled file browser, e.g. Root Explorer, you can see into it fine.

I had 2.8 MCR on before, but removed it as I got frustrated with the keyboard losing focus when writing texts (it would keep minimising itself!). Tried MCR 3.0 but today I have just had the same issue sending 2 texts ;) - Was a solution found ?

Also when I load up googlemaps "sometimes" it displays "login failed". didn't happen with standard rom as far as i can remember.

i updated my hero to the modaco 3 core version and when i finished, i tried to start my phone and he started to restart himself from "HTC" to "HERO" over and over...

now i restored from nandroid to my old version but what i did wrongly?

Since you are from the US: Are you using the CDMA version of the Hero? (On Sprint) In that case, you have to get this rom

If you have a GSM Hero, did you remember to do a wipe/factory reset if you came from the stock ROM?

If you could try again, and then run 'adb shell logcat' when the phone is in a boot loop, and give us the log, that would help identify the issue.

its a gsm version build 2.73.405.5-it doesn't required a wipe...

is there anybody who could help me with the command specification. I would like to delete "Teeter" and "Voice search" from the ROM.

I did read the first site of this thread, do to the fact that I am a beginner (after almost 3 weeks I discovered the secrets of the SDK and the non findable USB drivers for the Hero ;) ... but solved today) I removed today "Footprints" and "Peep".

What I am looking for is how is "Teeter" and "Voice search" named (e.g. "Footprints" is named just Foot).

I think Voice search you can remove without ADB. Just normally. At least I could. It`s not in the ROM.

i have the same problem on my gsm hero after updating to 3.0

only prob i have now is when going back to nandroid backup, it wont reinstall the backup just does nothing ;) any suggestions? guess i could use another update.zip format rom and try that out?

UPDATE: reverted back to latest HTC generic rom from here in update format and latest radio installed, all working fine, but cant get modaco 3.0 too work, just goes in a HTC - Hero splash screen...

I was caught in the boot loop too after installing MCR 3.0. I ended up partitioning the SD from the recovery menu and that fixed the problem. Problably it was trying to mount /system/sd/app. Fortunately, I had copied the contents of my SD card to my PC beforehand.

this missing app is really copyright isuue. i have flashed newest leaked 2.1 & used my google user id. after that even barcode reader have gone. i have gone thru android market help page it is really a copyright issue & it is stuck with my google id so if i only chenge it then only i can see those apps.

Before the update, using HTC People Widget on my homescreen, it used to display peoples facebook pictures, but during the update procedure during the backup phase I backed up all my contacts using wavesecure and after I finished the update i retrieved my contacts.

But eversince then the HTC People widget doesnt display there facebook picture but the default grey profile pic?

How can i resolve this? I tried deleting a user and then recreating them to see if that would solve it but it didnt work?

Has anyone else had the same problem?

Make sure your contacts are synched (do a manual sync through the settings menu).

Boot into the recovery menu, then use the commands;

adb shell rm /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db

adb shell rm /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/files/*.jpg

(I suspect you could safely use "adb shell rm -rf /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases" but I just used the above)

then reboot the phone. It'll resync all your contacts and (at least for me) it fixed the problem of apps not picking up the contact pictures.

managed to get 3.0 installed late last night. on a whim i used a cheapo 2gb micro sd card rather than my usual 8gb sandisk to load the image and it flew through... odd! guess the recovery image is sensitive to the micro sd card makes etc!

3.0 is a nice fast rom for sure, good work Paul! No all i need todo is port over cameraware from winmob and set to go ;)

thanks a lot managed to uddate to the latset rom 3.0, but am a bit confused here guys and i need your help and i will admit in terms of android, am still a noob, just like my first days on windows, but after a while it always gets better, what i dont understand, is how to put apps on sd card, can someone, please point me to the right thread, were i can find a simple noob guide, on how to put apps on the sd card. i ahve read a couple of guides, but its still not clear, for me, and like i said, i ahve the latest modaco rom which is on this thread, and i can go into android system recovery, by pressing the home button and power button but just cant figure what to do please help i have been searching for the whole day, thanks
