Paul, have you noticed you just don't give me support for anything?

First about home button light that is yellow due to a previously update and now for updating from 2.8 to 2.9 and getting "Damaged SD Card" message and can't access my files in sdcard...

I mean, do you have any kind of problem with me (I guess no?!?!?!) or you just help selected people?

Sorry but it's disrespect I've been here for days waiting for answers and nothing...

SOS ! ^^

Comes from 2.8 everythings was fine. NB: Swapper installed. Swap partition was used: OK.

So I try the update like i used to. did a nandroid backup before.

Then the reboot was unnaturally long (don't see the android robot during boottime ? ) OK I wait then put my pin code, I see the Homescreen 5 seconds and it reboot ! and again and again...

So I went to the recovery to backup and it don't work...

msg: Error performing restore ! Try running 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' from console.

"If you have bootloops, ensure swapper is not running. You can boot into recovery and use adb to delete it from /data/app."

I try this but I did not succes. Apps are not in the SDcard ?

What I did:

Launch 'cmd' go to dir 'tools' (android sdk) using command 'cd' then tape: adb shell

then: cd data then cd app

error msg: /sbin/sh: cd: can't cd to app

On WinXP

If apps are on SD in a ext3 partition it is normal, isn't it ?

I'll try on ubuntu

Don't know what to do...

Please help with instructions I'm not an expert.

Still searching

(Sorry for my english, a french guy ^^)

I'm pleased to present version 2 of my MoDaCo Custom Hero ROM! No 'wipe' is required for anyone coming from MCR 1.2 onwards, or the stock 2.73.x updates.

MCR now includes a MoDaCo Custom Kernel, MCK, for additional features.

MCR now optionally includes Wavesecure in ROM, allowing you to lock / locate / wipe your device remotely in the event of loss and be notified if the SIM is changed. The application cannot be uninstalled by a thief and we are actively working with Wavesecure to ensure that in a forthcoming release, your settings will survive a hard reset!

This ROM is based on the 2.73.x release series (together with my own optimisations) for the best possible performance! The ROM is now available in 2 core versions, with and without Chinese input, with a optional add on packs that can be applied to either ROM.

Included in both 'core' versions

- Includes Teknologist's Custom Kernel 1.8 featuring additional filesystem support (EXT4, NFS, CramFS, SquashFS 4.0), CompCache modules and config, DroidWall support and much more! See here for details.

- Rooted with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK

- A2SD included (fully automatic - thanks cyanogen!) - create a EXT2, EXT3 or EXT4 partition as your second partition to use. dalvik-cache remains on device.

- Added Jbed Java

- Added Google Voice Search and required speech library

- Added Dropbear SSH running by default, check 'About' screen for password (port 2222). You can now remove this by running /system/bin/removedropbear.sh

- Added Notes app from Dragon

- Added Spare Parts (run it and switch the 2 animation types to 'fast' for an even better experience!)

- Added android-wifi-tether 1.60 pre3 (props to the developer, this is a great app!)

- Added WiFi Status indicator, with kind permission of Andrew Schwimmer

- Added busybox 1.15.2 - tweaked such that 'get information' in Swapper now works as desired

- Added nano 2.09 - text editor for use in shell mode

- Added parted and sqlite tools

- Added terminfo and settings to boot.img to allow nano etc. use

- Added tun.ko file

- Added files required for Debian linux including loxley's updated bootdeb script

- Added cyanogen's huge APN list

- Moved Quickoffice to data partition to allow easy uninstall

- Deleted 'Learn More' application

- ROM now includes touch focus in Camera app

- ROM now supports shortcuts using BetterCut (and therefore I assume anycut!) in Rosie

- Silenced boot sound (it's still there and can be reactivated with a file edit)

- You can now check your MoDaCo Custom ROM (MCR) version from the about menu

Included in main 'enhanced' add on pack

- Added Business Card Scanner

- Added 'Plurk' client

- Added WAP browser

Other optional add on packs (apply as normal update zips)

- 'WaveSecure' add on pack (puts Wavesecure in ROM - it is no longer in core)

- 'Boot Sounds' add on pack (restores boot sounds)

- 'Hebrew Fonts' add on pack (installs hebrew fonts)

Recommended applications (available from the market)

- More Locale for setting non english Locales

Downloads

'Core' download: http://content.modaco.net/hero/2.9-update-...core-signed.zip

'Core Chinese' download: 2.9 to follow shortly. 2.8: http://content.modaco.net/hero/2.8-update-...nese-signed.zip

'Enhanced' add on pack: http://content.modaco.net/hero/2.8-update-...nced-signed.zip

'Wavesecure' add on pack: http://content.modaco.net/3.0.0.31-update-...cure-signed.zip

'Boot Sounds' add on pack: http://content.modaco.net/hero/2.9-update-...unds-signed.zip

'Hebrew Fonts' add on pack: http://content.modaco.net/hero/1.0-update-...onts-signed.zip

ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!

A 'wipe' is MANDATORY when installing this ROM if you are coming from pre MCR 1.2 or a stock 1.x ROM, and you MUST do this BEFORE applying the update zip (as the update zip puts files on the data partition)! I also recommend you install the latest radio from my 'update zips' topic if you have not done so.

Please note that first boot may take a little while, especially if you have a lot of apps on your A2SD partition. Be patient! If you want a real clean start or you have issues with your existing A2SD installed apps when you boot, you need to wipe your EXT3 partition on SD too by executing 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app', 'adb shell rm -r /system/sd/app-private' and 'adb shell reboot' :P

The ROM is in an update.zip format for installation via the custom recovery image, I also strongly recommend installing the latest radio (63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 at time of writing). As always, do a Nandroid backup before you do anything... just in case! ;)

For the complete newbies, these are the steps you need to take with a 'virgin' Hero:

- Download the patched recovery image linked above and install as detailed in that post

- Download this custom ROM, and copy it to your SD card

- Enter the recovery image (if you're not in it already) by powering on while pressing 'home'

- Select 'nandroid backup' from the menu to do a backup

- If you copied the custom rom as update.zip, select 'apply sdcard:update.zip', else select the option below.

- all done

If you would like to remove parts of the ROM that you do not use, see this post.

Feedback / feature requests welcome! :D

Finally, if you like the MoDaCo Custom ROMs, consider supporting MoDaCo by visiting the subscriptions page and upgrading your account or making a donation via PayPal by clicking this link.

After this 2.9 update my phone keeps rebooting when it finishes loading...why????

What is a home button light, I don't know. Damaged SD card, do you use swapper?

I post replies for questions I have answers to.

P

Your home button shoud be white, right? Mine changed to yellow with no reasons and when I posted I asked if it came from you ROM and if it's possible to setup another color

About SD Card, I've never installed Swapper

And BTW, if you noticed there are users from around the world here so you can't expect an English master from everyone, ok?

Thanks in advance

The home button surely is just backlit, don't see how a rom could change the colour?

Isn't swapper part of the rom?

Paul is english, this forum is based in the UK..........

The reason for the "loss" of the 30 Mb people are reporting are due to this version not using .odex files.

.odex files are compiled versions of the java bytecode of the normal .apks that usually are stored on the system partition with the system apk.

When the .odex are not there Dalvik (the java virtual machine for Android) creates the equvialent files in /data/dalvik-cache resulting in taking up space on the data partition instead of system.

Yeah I just saw that i had roughly 30mb less internal memory after the upgrade from 2.8/1.8 to 2.9/1.8 but it´s a fantastic rom Paul, well done! It´s super fast!

Now i went back to 2.8 with Nandroid, and the market problem is still there...

Any hints ?

EDIT: After clearing the cache (settings, apps...) market works again (in 2.8) !!

Do you mind telling what you changed to get it working? That way I kinda learn what build.prop does :D. I took a look at it and tried changing some values to what they were in MCR 2.2 to see if that helped my Market-not-all-apps-showing problem.

So please tell me what the problem _was_, that way I learn a bit more :P

oh, just redownloaded 2.9, flashed it (without wiping) and the market issue still persists :D.

Crystallight Defense Free is in the Market if I search, but the paid version (Which I purchased) is nowhere to be found. Might give you an hint as in where the problem is.

You mean the actual button? Pretty sure that's just an LED behind there, it can't be changed by ROM?

I'm still a bit confused TBH.

Hi All just wanted to share a problem I found with 2.9, Fantastic ROMs paul, thanks for all the work,

But after I flashed 2.9 enhanced my server connection on exchange activesync no longer worked, but when I restored back to 2.8 it was fine.

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I really want to go to 2.9 as it was superb in all other ways but I need those damn e mails...
