Guest kingkeld Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Have anyone had any trouble with market enabler on beta 2? When I try to set a fake provider the phone just reboots. It worked fine with 3.1... I have had trouble with it before, constantly, and only once on beta two. Should you know know it, the way to get it to work is to MANUALLY reboot the phone (not just let MarketEnabler reboot it) and try again. Works every time right after reboot. I have no idea what causes the problem. Now that we are at MarketEnabler, I can not install new versions. It says it has trouble parsing the file. Does anyone know what I can do about that?
Guest MilosM Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 To all those still experiencing sluggishness after a while (or excessive battery drain) I have completely solved these on my Hero and thought I'd share... I removed 2 things: The HTC clock widget from Home screen (replaced it by android standard which has no seconds display) Last but not least, removed the Taskiller widget. Seems it goes wild after a while, using ~25% CPU for extended amount of time and periodically ! This is a real CPU killer and seems to only display that behavior after a while... All sluggishness has disappeared and this is after 48H uptime ! Running with a 128MB compcache on MCR 3.2beta - TCK 1.92 For me it was the HTC Weather widget. After removing it all seems well againg :)

Guest mkolonko Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 hi paul, could you add apn's for Orange CH to the list?Orange_CH_APN_Settings.TXT
Guest jotapesse Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 I have the same problem with my provider (o2 gemany). I have the mcr 3.1 custom on my hero. I think, the problem is a application problem. The application locale 1.x with power save plugin, I suspect. After I deinstalled the power save plugin, I don't have problems withe the wrong apnsuffix. Which applications do you use on your hero? best regards michael Hi. I also have Locale and Power Save plugin, uninstalled Power Save but the issue remained. Had to Wipe again. Is this a Power Save issue, incompatibility with MCR, with the network, or what?
Guest mixmaven Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 I don't seem to be able to push files into this rom? Since I can't find goggles in the market, I pushed it to system/app as usual after remounting and nothing. I can see it with the correct permissions, but it doesn't show up. Any ideas? Thanks, -mix

Guest Phanes Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 @teknologist. ... thanx for the clock widget hint!
Guest theFRAGGLE Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 I removed the clock/weather widget and added a small clock only widget. Battery seems to be better. Dropping fast but I am in heavy use mode today :-)
Guest Malta72 Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Hi. I also have Locale and Power Save plugin, uninstalled Power Save but the issue remained. Had to Wipe again. Is this a Power Save issue, incompatibility with MCR, with the network, or what? I think the Power Save plugin isn't compatible with locale 1.x. It is only compatible with the BETA of locale. I'm waiting for a update of the Power Safe plugin now. I dont wipe my phone after the problem, I'm edit only the apn settings and delete the stringt 'apnsuffix'.

That would explain why my unlock screen didn't work either. Thanks, -mix
Guest Lliwynd Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Hi all, I've just rooted my Hero. I wanted to play around with some things and I was wondering if the source code to the modifications is available anywhere? e.g. I'd like to make some changes to the SuperUser app, but I'm finding it difficult to track down the latest source. (The source here http://code.google.com/p/superuser/ seems woefully out of date, but I'm not sure I want to just randomly pick one of the others, e.g. http://github.com/ChainsDD/android_packages_apps_Superuser/ which appears to be slightly different to what is in the MoDaCo ROM) I guess the next question I'll have is how to update the app on the phone, but I'll worry about that later. Oh, one more question. 'adb shell' is now dropping me straight into a root shell. Is this normal? Is there a way make it give me a normal shell by default?

Guest werziluk Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Im not sure if 3.2 has any benefits over 3.1? Actually if anything its worse, I seem to be getting less battery life, weaker coverage, market not loading and then theres a few three network bits here and there. It might also be a little be slower?? What does everybody else reckon? Edited January 17, 2010 by werziluk

Yesterday my battery was running pretty low and everything went totally unresponsive. Took almost up to two seconds to switch homescreen or open a menu and so on.Â
