Operator Settings - i900 (Windows Mobile 6.5)

Hi Everyone!

I have a little question...

I bought a Omnia i900 (European-French Version) unlocked.

Im having some problem with the WIFI connection.

It connects to the WIFI but theres not Internet Connection when I try to browse in IE or Opera.

I saw on some forums that it may be an OPERATOR SETTINGS problem.

When I go into Settings -> Connections -> Operator Settings -> in the drop down menu, there are only 3 choices of service provider (the 3 are from France)

I live in Canada (service provider = FIDO).

I tried this trick :

*#1546792*# - (Executes \Windows\AdminSettings.exe) Shows the Administrator Settings menu. In there:

1. Version - Shows a menu where you can access the version numbers for the PDA and the Software (redirects to the Settings Version applet)

2. Preconfiguration - Password is *#81230*#. Allows to preconfigure the Omnia Operator settings by changing the country and operator. Note: Changing this will hard-reset the device. This won't lock the device with the specified operator.

But the choices for North America doesnt include Canada...

Is there a possible way to add CANADA - Fido as a service provider for the operator settings???? (via a .cab file install)

Thank You for reading & your help!

Have a good day!

I personally don't use data due to the ridiculous price gouging, but ever since I upgraded to WM6.5 it asks me if I want to setup Fido data accounts when I first boot into the OS. You can just punch in the info manually as well, just create a connection and look up 'Fido data settings' on Google.

But I don't really see what WiFi has to do with Fido? It's strange that neither Opera or IE can connect even though you are connected to your WiFi connection but that has nothing to do with Fido. If there is a local connection available Windows Mobile will use that before connecting through your cellular data plan.

The thing is that i use NoData & I disabled everything in the list...

Wifi is connected but it seems like the phone tries to connect to Internet via GPRS instead of WiFi... and it says in IE : Cannot Connect - Settings button & DISMISS button...
