Guest JaGuR Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) Hi guys, I have had my Omnia about a month, have installed a winmo 6.5 rom, all no problems, phone has been running great, up until yesterday when I was using iGO 8. Had the phone plugged into the car charger, any way the phone goes flat, can't turn it back on until I get home and put it on the house charger. Now my power button isn't working, won't turn off or on, it starts up automatically when I put the battery back in, but I can't switch it off, and my phone is really hot and is going flat in about 3hrs. I have tried hard resetting the rom, still having same issue, is this hardware or software problem, and what can I do ? Cheers Edited August 30, 2009 by JaGuR

Cheers I suggest that you should refer to the service center at your location even if there is no warranty
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Let's think about this for a moment. Phone was working just fine and then just crapped out - whilst plugged in! Now it won't revive at all. Sounds like some sort of hardware failure to me, but I wouldn't count on a warranty being honored if you've flashed a custom ROM.
Guest xtralarge26 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 This's happened to me before, might sound strange but try installling a different ROM on your omnia, i suggest DXID1 untill you know your phones okay then try some custom ROM's out if you wish, Hope this helps.
Guest T@R1Q Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 all custom roms r bug prone. u simply cant use them for long coz u'll find too many errors r heading. solution, keep changing rom :D
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 all custom roms r bug prone. u simply cant use them for long coz u'll find too many errors r heading. solution, keep changing rom :D This is an utterly noob comment. Whatever you percieve may have happened to your phone on count of a custom is probably unfortunate; however, I (along with plenty of other users on this forum) can vouch for the stability of the ROMs provided by the all of the brilliant chefs on this forum. Custom ROMs are an ever evolving type, which is why their variants are released often. The same goes for just about any type of software. Would you blame iTunes for being unstable because Apple releases a new revision almost every week? Yes, some can be bug prone but just about every chef on this forum will point every detail out along with the comment "Flash at your own risk".
Guest Zealster Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 all custom roms r bug prone. u simply cant use them for long coz u'll find too many errors r heading. solution, keep changing rom :D There are many, many stable ROMs on this site. When I had the latest official Samsung ROM, I had to soft reset my phone at least once a day. Now, I've flashed to a custom ROM and don't have any real problems with my phone except minor extra software issues. How is it that a custom ROM provides better stability than an official Samsung released ROM if they contain "too many errors." This is a false statement and an insult to any ROM cook who works to provide user stability and improves the Omnia's use.

Guest rcicu Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 sounds hardware related to me. The last few times I used iGo my phone over heated and shut down. It sounds like yours may have done the same. Are you able to reflash to CF03? If you can or even if you can't I would take it back to the store for replacement. If they wont replace it Samsung should. Good Luck

Tried iGO, NDrive, SAmsung Route 66 (came with the phone). The phone doesn't hang or crash but simply stops charging from the car charger and eventually the juice is gone, no battery. Btw, this happens with both roms from Samsung and custom. It's an hardware issue I guess, a pain in the ass one.

Hi guys, I flashed back to Original rom, well I hope so, I got it from Shokka's kitchen, it had the region check removed, as it wouldn't let me reflash back to the real original. The problem still existed after changing the rom back, the phone would work as per usual, but the power button woudn't switch it off, and the battery, a diffeerent one to the one that was in it when the problem occured, would drain in about 3 hours, same with the original The funny thing is, I was getting a usb cord not connected icon up the top, well I think that is what it was, even when the usb wasn't plugged in, didn't remember getting that before :/ Anyway sent it back to the store, hoping to get it fixed, or replaced. The car charger I was using, wasn't an original Samsung one, just a cheap one off EBAY, could that have caused the problem ? Cheers Edited September 5, 2009 by JaGuR
