Guest sockfocks Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Ok...what a day...haha. Finally took the plunge and flashed to the new CF03 official rom with Verizon loader. This was at 12pm. I ran into problems using the Samsung umdl ver 2.3 when trying to flash bgills v2.1 rom. I got the "bin_file_error" message. Active sync 4.5 was used, usb connection disabled, and using USB 2.0 ports. OS is xp sp3. Firewall off. Mcafee is running though. Here are the logs. Device name:5&5caedca&0&8 EBoot version=01.71 Start downloading... PDA-Starting downloading region #1(DISKIMAGE).. PDA-Writing image.. PDA Device Found! [Port : 1]EBoot version = 01.71 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PDA Device 1 ready to download! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PDA Device 1 ready to download! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PDA 1 starts downloading... Don't plug it out until the label becomes blue!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PDA will be written. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downloading PDA region #1(DISKIMAGE)... =========DownloadImagePDA=============== Then the error message shows up and everything stops. I also tried V1.9 and it had the same error. Is .bin.7z a valid file extension for the UMDL? I did take off the .7z. So by now I had thought my phone was bricked. It would turn on, the samsung omnia splash screen would come on, and then freeze time. Since I had the CF03 rom installed previous I thought maybe I could bring it back. It took me forever but I used the samsung umdl and the 3 part CF03 rom image and brought it back to life using the image loader, by this time it is 630pm. So can anyone help me with loading custom roms? I did go by verizon store and a new phone is on the way. Thanks for any help.

Also, You can re-flash CF03 to make sure everything is on order, but you should not use the samsung UMDL. Only use that for custom roms. Hope this helps.

Had to use samsung umdl because phone wouldn't power up and be seen by the verizon uploader. What is used to extract the file? I have winrar and it doesn't seem to be a compressed file.

You need 7zip. Google it for a link.

Here is the latest copy of WinRar from Cnet.com. I use WinRar without a problem. I also use 7zip on my other PC. Both work fine for me.wrar390.exe
