Guest svtfast Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I washed my omnia but I took it apart and dried it out. It worked just fine when I put it back together but the main nav button and make and end call buttons didnt work. I made a call to test it and it worked but I could end the call so I pulled the battery. The phone was charging when I pulled the battery. Now it wont turn on. The LED next to the power button wont even light up. Did I short out the phone or the battery or what did I do? Can I fix this or is it time for a new phone?
Guest lonely2k5 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 well sometimes when you "wash" the phone...even when you then dry it out...it works for some days but almost sure it will die after few days... the main board gets corrosive and it dies...looks like it happens to you just in the time you pulled out battery... probably no hope for your phone..sorry
Guest svtfast Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 it was only working for 2 minutes or less before I pulled the battery. I just want to know what may of happened to my phone so that I can try to fix it. I might not though as the phone was getting worse by the week. For the last few weeks I woudnt be able to make a call, the phone would just say "connecting." I had to restart the phone to make a call.
Guest necosino Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Either way, you'll probably have to get the phone replaced :D
Guest techmaster7545 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) my wife washed her this is what i did to save it and it still work good after 2 months used canned air to get most water out then i put it in a big bowl of uncooked rice for 48 hrs and it still works the rice draws the moisture out it may help but it needs to be done asap when u get it out the water also i remove the batt in the process they say there is a color strip or dot if it is pink or red new batt is needed Edited September 1, 2009 by techmaster7545
Guest kdkinc Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 According to soap detergent ads most laundry detergent has a LOT of sodium in the formula, I'm sure this couldn't be to helpful for the phones future....
Guest kericksomu Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Don't give up too soon. My daughter delivered my omnia to my dogs water bowl. Where it sat submerged for sometime...It dried it out and it started up, but then died only to be alive again a couple days later. I think it had to REALLY dry. I kept a fan on it the entire time. I had a samsung blackjack that got wet also (my daughter really likes phones, and bathtubs, waterbowls etc) and was able to resurrect that as well, though not completely which is why I have an omnia now! With that phone I took the whole thing apart to dry it out. Worth a try with the omnia.
Guest briwayjones Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 This is just a thought, I've never tried it. But you could get a can of Electrical Contact Cleaner from an Auto parts store, take your Omnia back apart and spray down the whole board and wipe it down to try and clean out any corrosion. The cleaner will evaporate fast and not leave any residue.
Guest raidenbr Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I had an old nokia phone and I heard it ringing on my washing machine. then I disconnected the battery and sprayed it's interior with an electrical contact cleaner. Waited 1 month before turning on and it is still alive nowadays (I use 2 celphones). This was 4 years ago.
