Guest pacman9889 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Hey everyone, does anyone know if it's possible to use the GPS with the phone turned off? I ask because last weekend I was in mexico and had the phone antenna turned off to avoid a crazy high bill. I tried a couple times to connect using Garmin, that way the maps are already there, but no luck. Anyone know if this is possible?

Anyone know if this is possible? download attached small program called Modaco NoData, which basically avoids any chance of mistaken data downloads. Also, you can disable "enhanced gps" and disable "garmin online" (in garmin: Settings->Garmin online), there would be no chance of data downloads. I have been using garmin xt for 6 months with no problems and no downloads.NoData.cab Edited September 3, 2009 by wackyiraqi
Guest X-Ray A4T Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 awsome, thanks for that! But the phone radio and GPS radio are linked so you need the phone on for the GPS to work, just make sure you use the nodata fix to prevent data downloads, but as it it 40KB once a week it shouldn't cost you too much.
