Guest sad1f Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 could someone just list (with links) what i need to do, to go from an Orange Hero to the Modaco Custom ROM (with apps on sd card, etc) just a simple: do thisthen thischeck thatenjoy! would be awesome and appreciated!!
Guest JulesB Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 There are lots of instructions for doing this on this site, but some of these are spread across many messages. I have just done this process, so here is what I did: Invest in a backup application (MyBackup or Sprite Backup) and backup your device to SD Card, including applications if you wish.Backup SD card to PCFollow instructions here (How to Root your HTC Hero in One Click)Do an Nandoid Backup from the Recovery screen and then copy on your PCFollow instructions here (How to Load a Custom ROM on your HTC Hero)Restore everything from your backupSet up all the things that were not backed up (mainly application settings)I did not bother formatting my SD card as the instructions at 3 suggest and this did not cause any harm, but of you want to move applications to the SD card you will need to repartition anyway which will wipe the card. Hope this helps. J
