Tutorial flashing new rom under Ubuntu (Jaunty J.)

...do somebody know how exactly flashing any new rom under Ubuntu 9.04?

Maybe links, tuts for noobs...?

I have an out of the box HTC Hero.

why should it be any different to the windows way? which step is problematic?

Both the Windows and especially the OSX guide will be very similar to how to do it under ubuntu.

You need the Linux version of the ADK.

You need a Linux binary of Fastboot.

If the command 'adb devices' doesn't show your device when connected with USB, check the permissions on the device node, or execute all the commands as root (sudo, or su -)
