Guest etaraz Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 Hi, I have an Omnia and was very happy with it, but my company gave me a Blackberry and I cannot get used to it! I have been doing a lot of research to see if there is a way to have BBConnect working on Omnia. It seems that there is no way, but I found this thread that lifted my hopes http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294218 I was wondering for those Rom cooker (i have never done it) if there is a way to change de Rom Version on the ROM to have BBConnect working as they did on the XDA forum. I would not mind if we use BBConnect version 2 as long as I can go back to my omnia. Thanks in advance! :)

I don't think Omnia Rom can be modified so it looks like HTC Hermes Rom. No BBConnect supported by any Samsung's HP yet, and CMIIW, there will never be. Also, RIM has some mechanism to disable illegal/stolen/unregistered device, so I think you have to get use to that BB...

I understand what XDA forum does, but I understand from their thread that they change Hex code in the rom and are able to "disguise" the Rom Version in order to have BBConnect 2.1 work. That is why I would still want to give it a try. If someone could help me with the HEX Code that I would need to change in Omnia ROM to try it. Here the example from XDA Forum: 4F 3F A0 E3 02 30 83 E3 45 2F A0 E3 05 10 A0 E3 02 (Rom Version 5.2.318) to C3 30 A0 E3 02 30 83 E3 45 2F A0 E3 05 10 A0 E3 01to (Rom Version 5.1.195) Thanks!
