Yesterday one of the users of Russian 4PDA.ru forum was in MS Saint Petersburg Representative office and took part in talks on WinPhone (i.e. WinMob 6.5) Official release. As MS officials said, WinPhone commercial release in Russian will be announced in two weeks, and Samsung payed for update on i900. So, English MS version of WinPhone will be released NO LATER, I suppose. WinPhone for Samsung i900 will be ready around late September (Russian version - about two weeks later)

What You Think Guys?

We are having tons of goood custom rom by our great omnia members.

but Will we able to Get Official Rom?

Dont think that having the official rom is that good because the custom roms from the forum are much more recent...

True, but those newer versions are also pretty buggy and incompatible with a whole host of programs. :)

An official and stable 6.5 ROM for the Omnia would be fantastic, especially for those who don't want to be guinea pigs for Microsoft's beta testing of 6.5.1 and its new user interface. I really doubt it is coming though, it would be almost too nice of Samsung to support a device that's been out for over a year and its successor (Omnia II) is already out - Samsung seems great at providing after-sales updates though so maybe I'm wrong.

Its all up to the carriers. For us in the US on Verizon, don't even bother looking, or hoping, its Verizon. Anyone outside the US? I'm sure theres hope, things seem alot more lax with upgrades across the seas. But overall, i wouldn't expect it. An upgrade on an older phone to the new OS means people are less likely to buy a new handset, meaning less potential business, means bad for carriers.

But for those of us who bought our phones outright, this is great news

Well actually the phone has an official Windows hardware key, it's the upper right key for the menu, if you would remove the cover (which you shouldn't do) it should display a white start button (just behind the visible button) so it's just there but not visible :)

Although this comment was probably fully geographically discriminating (Not "racist") in nature, the following should be noted for future whistle blowing: I am not sticking up for justpratik in anyway, and do not know if this was a typo, I'm just advizing the moderator to look at all possibilities first, then post. justpratik did say sorry, but this could be out of consideration and not out of guilt, or admition to any wrong doing on justpratik's part. Here's the facts: When using XT9 the word "Brand"can be changed by XT9 to "Brain". Note: "REally" looks like XT9 tring to reply to a sms "RE:" If you feel this post is wrong, please delete it and further my opinion that most of these forums are filled with Ego-Trippers and Ego-Stroking Vultures willing to jump on anybody for posting contrary to moderators views & beliefs. Come on, now. Has Windows ever created a truly "stable" OS? It's what makes Windows... well... Windows.

Hey now, don't be like that... they made Windows 7 which is pretty darn stable. Sure it took them over 20 years to make a genuinely good version of Windows, but they still did it!
