Guest DiamondsTip Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) I'm using the CC20 (leaked beta rom) but afaik this persists on the stock rom as well. A lot of my applications cease to function or "mess up" when the screen goes off and into power save mode. Some of these applications are Sniffi(Wireless Network Scanner)/CorePlayer/RescoRadio/RescoAudioRecorder. However when I use the software option to turn off the screen (present in almost all of the above applications) it functions correctly. However some programs don't have an option to turn the screen off so I must rely on tapping the power button. Sniffi for example is a very good WiFi network scanner and works great on the i910 but does not have a "turn off screen" option. If i tap the power button to turn the screen off it stops scanning until the screen comes back on. The other programs exhibit similar behavior. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to fix them on my own and was wondering if there was a custom 6.1 or 6.5 rom that fixed this issue? Any help would be appreciated. EDIT: Yes wifi power saving is turned off. Edited September 6, 2009 by DiamondsTip

EDIT: Yes wifi power saving is turned off. You can use psShutXP. It gives you an icon in your start menu that will power off the screen but not put your phone in to suspend mode. This will cause an increase to battery usage.

More generally, there are a ton of applications and utilities that provide the "screen off" feature, many of them freeware. Another that I'd recommend (this is what I use) is WkTask -- really a Task Manager, but it provides a set of rich features in addition to basic task management, including Close Button configuration, a ver convenient program launcher, and a bunch of other stuff. I have it configured to turn the screen off when a right to left swipe across the top of the screen, making it about as drop-dead simple and convenient to turn the screen off any time (without having to use up a button for this purpose). I use this all the time with CorePlayer, Pocket Player, C-ApiSRO, and others. As for apps "not working" when in suspend -- this is normal. Applications have to be architected to support running while the device is asleep, and very few are.
