Guest optikalblitz Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 (edited) Hey all- I finally decided that since i had nothin to do today, that i would upgrade to 6.5 over the CF03 ROM. Well, that was hours ago. Nothing is working, and i've followed just about all of the how-to's i can find. Here's my situation. OS: Windows XP SP3 running on top of Parallels Emulator Hard Reset the Omnia and backed up. The phone is recognized by Windows and can sync with ActiveSync v4.5, so i know it can establish a meaningful connection. I attempted to run the SCH-i910 User Upgrade software from Samsung..estblishing a connection was ok, but after faulting out with an error that said my phone was "not an SCH-i910," it told me that i had to enter the Emergency Upgrade Mode of the program..but following the steps (Disconnect the battery and soft reset) does nothing but cause the same error. I made sure that in this instance, USB connection WAS allowed through ActiveSync. I also tried unchecking allowing USB connection. From there i moved onto using the Omnia UMDL program. I used to the CF03.img file to which the Pinned FAQ linked, and it detects the phone, but my omnia's screen stays at the "Entering Download Mode..." with zero progress of green bars. I've let it sit for almost an hour with no progress. I even tried flashing the CF220 ROM instead. But it hangs at the same place every time. I made sure that USB connection was Mass Storage in the phone's connection menu. This is as far as my log gets in UMDL. Device name:4&36cd09fb&0&1 Device name:4&36cd09fb&0&1 EBoot version=01.61 <== it seems like everyone else's EBoot version is 1.61, could this be a problem? Start downloading... PDA-Starting updating EBOOT... PDA-Downloading EBOOT... I'd be really appreciative if someone could give me some info that i might be missing. I've never tried to flash before so i'm a new. Has ActiveSync v4.5 been installed on your computer?
Guest optikalblitz Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Has ActiveSync v4.5 been installed on your computer? Yes. And it does sync.
Guest blazingwolf Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Am I correct in thinking that you are using a Mac? If so then you need to do this with Boot Camp. When the device resets and goes in to boot loader mode the correct connection is no longer made.

I was beginning to think i was becoming exceptionally dense while undertaking this project. I'll try again with my work laptop that runs XP. Thanks blazingwolf! and btw, it's funny you should answer my post, cause i was trying to load one of your cooked ROMs.

Hope the flash goes well from your work PC and that you like the ROM. :)
Guest optikalblitz Posted September 8, 2009 Report Posted September 8, 2009 Thanks! It's alright, i'll just have to hold off on my 6.5 excitement for another day. I just played with my bud's touch pro running a core 6.5 and i loved the speed, ease and appearance. Woo
