hi guys

i encountered problems on my hero that it did not list out all the songs i copied.

i copied alot of mp3 sorted according to folders in mem card

eg. mem card\media\mp3\*artist*\*album*...

some appear in the player list & some do not, i also encounter only 2 out of 10 songs in an album appeared in the list

do not like to sync music, prefer to copy mp3 over manually

also encountered this abnormality with pictures

any solution? oh btw im using stock rom 2.73.707.9 146733 CL#62020 release-keys

I found the Music app to be a bit picky when it came to MP3 tags. I had to strip out and ID3v1 tags and ID3v2 APIC tags, and have a file called AlbumArt.jpg in the relevant folder to see an album cover.

Rich.

BTW, are you MLOC malbon?

nope that's not me

thx for info, i was wondering too if ID3Tag is the issue but the symptom is random with or without the tags

i just found something interesting with AndExplorer, under the "Device", there are 6 folders which i do not see using Linda explorers

1. audio (external)

2. audio (internal)

3. images (external)

4. images (internal)

5. video (external)

6. video (internal)

the files which are missing from album, music & video are missing from the (external) folders.

eg. if i copy 1.jpg to mem card but album does not show it, i do not see this file in the "images (external)" folder as well using the AndExplorer under the "Device" section.

but under the SDCard section using AndExplorer, this file 1.jpg is clearly there & can view it by selecting it.

this happens for my music/image/video files randomly.

& so if i delete any files from the (external) folders, i will not see it in album/music.

it seems that these (external) folders contain the list of media files i have in my mem card.

anyone familiar with the AndExplorer?

why these (external) folders are missing from Linda File Manager?

Guys,

Did you fully understand an issue and found a solution? I have a similar problem with Android (Android Dev Phone 1 == HTC G1 with Android 1.6 installed) not displaying some mp3 files, although they are there, sitting on SD card. It even worse... I tried various things and finally deleted all the albums through Android Music Player interface in hope that it will clear something and trigger Android for indexing mp3 files which sit on SD card again. Quite opposite: Android now does not show ANY music files.

I posted it on various Android forums, but no one answered. Finally I found your thread and installed AndExplorer. As I can see, on a device, under audio (external) there is a bunch of system audio files, but no mp3 files which I'm trying to listen. Under audio (internal) there are no files at all. And all the mp3 files are still sit happily on a SD card. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.

I posted this question on lysesoft forum as well...

Whats the best way to do this?

I just mount SD to pc

Drag drop MP3 files into my music folder

Go to music on hero, choose album or all tracks

You could try doubleTwist (http://www.doubletwist.com). I guess you could say its like iTunes for non-Apple devices

Am I right that all applications like doubleTwist or MediaMonkey just copy / sync media files on computer and SD card? I can perfectly do it manually by just copying files. Those applications do not and can not reach internal storage of Android, right?

I just wanted double check it, to make sure my problems (described in a previous message) cannot be solved by using applications located on PC.

I found a solution for this Android bug on a Russian-speaking Google Wave devoted to Android! By the way, I encourage everybody to join Google Wave ASAP (no, I already used all my invitations).

A solution, or should I say - a workaround? - is to use Meridian Player http://sites.google.com/site/eternalsandbox/Home instead of Android's own Music Player. Meridian Player allows to forcibly re-scan media files.

As I was told on Meridian's forum, "Yes, it is an Android's media scanner issue, and I also don't know what's the actual behavior of the auto scanning. Before 1.1 it will do a full scan each time replugging SD card, but now it does not. Even manually invoke (by Meridian) sometimes fail...Hope they can fix this soon."

I wonder why Meridian developers know that, while Google Android developers do not.
