Samsung Appstore

did anyone knew one was comming?

it was supposed to launch the 14th but it was a few hours ago :)

so you can download a cab to install the appstore app but unfortunately it doesn't work for me (yet) as soon as i launch it it gives an error, so i guess i have to wait till the 14th to use the store...

i like it already because it has some free apps and you don't have to pay stupid amounts of monney to use a simple app :)

so can you guys check of the app store works for you?

This is going to be interesting, this whole app store on Windows Mobile, because there's going to be so many of them which I think might defeat the whole purpose of an app store.

There's this one from Samsung, the Marketplace from Microsoft coming in October, and in the last few days I even ran across two random app stores for WM devices floating around the web. I hope this doesn't ruin the app store scene for Windows Mobile - to me the biggest point of an app store is that it's supposed to be a 'one stop shop' for programs for your platform, having a bunch for the same platform seems like a drawback to me.

With that said, I'm gonna download this and give it a try. :)

Hmm, well that's just weak... anyone know if they even intend to open it up for North Americans?

Works via web browser though :)

Really, it's web-based? What's the address?

The application is over 2MB, kind of strange if all it does is fetch a website.

The page appears to be live again. The application is available for download again, although it still does not connect to the server.

damn you samsung it's still not working for holland either, why do they release it when it's not fully working?, apparently only Italy France and UK are supported right now, the rest of us will have to wait till samsung finishes the store...

How annoying, apparently it only works if you install it main device memory. 2MB gone! I hope that you can at least install the apps that you download from there in My Storage or Storage Card, otherwise they will be useless for me.

Edit: found this in the FAQ:

Q: After I reinstalled an application in a storage card previously installed on the main storage, I can not run or activate the application. Why?

A: The licence key of Zirconia (which is license manager for Samsung Application Store) manages the installation path of the application. You can reactivate it by deleting license keys on the mobile phone. Please remove your license key from your phone. The license key of Zirconia is stored in "\Application Data\Zirconia". But if you remove the directory, you will need to reactivate all of your application which contains Zirconia.

It's full of rubbish that you can download from Handango. I've got it and there really is nothing of use just yet.

Seriously, you can see the list of the top apps on their site and they are all programs we've seen and heard about before.

It's not like you can just start and app store and expect novel, interesting apps to pop-up like they did on Apple's. Oh, and I just read on WMExperts that LG is going to launch three different app stores of their own! Microsoft seems to have control over their OEMs, they should have told them that only Microsoft could make an app store for the WM platform.
