Yuck! Keyboard and various problems.. starting over!

oh, first excuse this post.

i'm on a lot of drugs for pain and teeth and stuff.

so, yeah. if i sound like i'm on crack i probably am. sorry.

So, I haven't reflashed my rom since Wozzer's v.02 rom, right?

Well, ((actually, i should have took a picture. badword)) the keyboard kept locking up.

I couldn't remember how I fixed it, and I couldn't fix it this time so I was forced to do a phone hard reset.

what would happen, was it'd start out by at first all my custom XT9 words would disappear.

The next soft reset, sometime randomly all the REGULAR XT9 words would disapear, leaving me only with my own custom XT9 words ((for example, if i had previously added blah to my xt9 dictionary, then tried to type bleak it'd suggest 'blah' because 'bleak' was never added into the dictionary ((since it was a word tha came with it.. if that made sense)))).

so after boot it'd come up with a large black bar across the bottom of the screen, approx the size of winmo's default black and white ugly keyboard thing that's impossible to use. and it'd just sit there or whatever.

installing another keyboard ontop of it didn't work, SIP change doesn't work, nada.

SO now i hardreset my phone.

yikes! there's so much i customized! now i've gotta do it all again..

also, is there a samsung umdl for ubuntu?

the comptuer i'm on now can't boot into windows and i'm stuck with linux ((not that i dont love it)), but it sucks for this reason.

unless i can run it in wine.. i haven't thought of that..

well it's worth a shot i suppose.

actually, i don't want to brick my phone. this thign is very vital to my work and i.

i also just realized i have to redo all my own custom skins.

i should have released them all on here 'cause then i wouldn't have had to redo them again.

EDIT: Also, so there's been like a bajillion releases of winmo 6.5 beta leak since the one i'm running, apparently.

if i'm used to wozzer's, should i just flash to his v.05? i heard/read something about him leaving or something so his v.05 is really out of date.

i liked his naked build and that's what i used, so is there one like that for an updated version of winmo?

aaand so i don't have to read pages and pages and pages of threads,

has the gps been improved at all? that was one of my biggest yucks; the time it took to lock.

if not that's okay, no real biggie lol

EDIT 2: Also I exported/backed up my contacts as a .csv, but apparently omnia doesn't like those.

so am i badword and am i really going to have to type all those out again? or is there a utility to put them back?

*begs and prays for the latter as i do not feel like retyping all those contacts*

okay.. i've already been fixing most things.

now, is there a way to browse the omnia My Device via usb?

it'd make a lot of my modifications easier if i didn't have to write stuff on the device itself, you know?

I was able to flash my phone using Windows XP running through VirtualBox on Ubuntu. You'll need to do the USB hacks so VirtualBox can use your USB devices (I don't remember the specifics of it, but you'll have search the interwebs for it). It was frankly kinda scary and I was worried about bricking the phone, so I set up a dedicated XP box from spare parts just for flashing.
