Guest mementomori Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 just received mine yesterday..sofar really impressed. I had the omnia but missed the keyboard. First impressions..quite fast especially considering this is the first rom. Stil hate the widgets, if ind them totally useless. Really like the samsung today work screen. Has a lot of potential. the problem is the customizability, which is to limited. Prob. gonna switch to spb 3 eventually. screen really nice and responsive. also a lot better during daylight then the original omnia. Only problem i found is sometimes the work menu (bassicly whole screen) changes from its blue color to green which looks quite nice but seems to happen randomly keyboard is pretty good as well as the rest..now my only worry..will there be chefs for the 7610 :) if anyone has questions let me know

Guest Chippy-Steve Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Hey. I'm guessing you two are in NL? I'm in Germany and thinking of driving to Rotterdam tomorrow to check one out at smartphoneshop.nl. Either that or get them to send one over. Glad to see that neither of you have written the word 'showstopper' and good to hear that the keyboard os good and OLED brightness is good. How do you find the browsing speed on Opera 9.5? Any word on the 'hidden' compass? Regards Chippy

Any word on the 'hidden' compass? Regards Chippy well you have the right store..i got mine there to. The browsing speed seems fine..but depends also a lot on which version, dataplan etc. i havent done all the research yet. Dont like the haptic feedback, and it took me some time to find where to turn it of. I didnt find in the wm settings or programs. also i find that there are more options that can only be found in the samsung ui settings..not always easy to find. also as with the first omnia samsungs ui isnt very fast, although the phone is. spb 3 runs fast as does wm. i guess only the starting of samsungs softw takes some more time. dont know about the compass..have to check at that.
Guest AndyHamp Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 guy's ... have either of you any way of telling if the "Qwerty" has HSUPA ? HSDPA 7.6 ? Quad Band UTMS ? I'm desparately trying to find out if it does or doesn't and even Samsung sites seem to disagree on those points :) Thanks !
Guest Irenicusjd Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 The digital compass works, unfortunately there is no api to use it besides the test screen #*0*#. The 7610 is a quad band phone.
Guest AndyHamp Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) The digital compass works, unfortunately there is no api to use it besides the test screen #*0*#. Is that the LCDTest.exe in the windows directory ? There is available API manual but it doesn't mention the compass .. http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/cms/cnt...amp;cntsId=4601 The 7610 is a quad band phone. Tri (sorry i meant tri above ) band UTMS ? It's certainly quad band GSM ..... The i8000 specs say: GSM & EDGE Band: Quad Band(850/900/1800/1900) 3G Band: 900/1900/2100 GPRS: GPRS Class 12 EDGE: EDGE Class 12 3G: HSUPA(5.76Mbps), HSDPA(7.2Mbps) Operation System: Windows Mobile PPC 6.1 Does the B7610 match these ? Edited September 14, 2009 by AndyHamp
Guest Irenicusjd Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Yes i mean the LCDtest.exe, unfortunatly i cant test if the phone has hsdpa 3.6 or 7.2 because my provider (vodafone NL) has capped me at 3.6...... Hsupa is also capped...... The 3g options are 900, 1900 and 2000.

I've not seen a definitive spec sheet anywhere .. did this come from the phone itself ? I'm intrigued to know how you would find out that from the phone. Thanks again ... Andy PS - I assume you mean 2100 Not 2000 (as i don't think 2000 is a valid GSM/UMTS frequency anywhere)
Guest Irenicusjd Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 The tri band info came from the phone. For my omnia i always used this list http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...nia-test-codes/ they also work for the omnia 2 and b7610 (and perhaps more samsung phones?) when i used the code *#2263# i get 4 options : WCDMA 900, WCDMA 1800 and IMT 2000 and WCDMA only. furthermore the specs on this dutch mobile phone site http://www.letsgomobile.org/nl/mobieletele...ungomniaqwerty/, but to be honest i never heard of the 2000 freq. I overlooked it (thought it was 2100) so i am not so certain anymore......
Guest La Traviata Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 Has it really only 1GB on board storage? I guess on the phone that would be "My Storage". And how much internal memory is left in "My Device" to install your own programmes? Many thanks!
Guest AndyHamp Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 when i used the code *#2263# i get 4 options : WCDMA 900, WCDMA 1800 and IMT 2000 and WCDMA only. IMT is the name for 2100 ... see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands So looks good to me :-)
Guest Irenicusjd Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 No, the phone has 2gb storage, but about 512mb is reserved for wm6.1 and touchwizz so you have 1,5 gb free user space. This is also the standard amount for the samsung arm 6410 chip. http://www.samsung.com/global/system/busin...c6410_rev40.pdf

I digged somewhat deeper in the phone and found some test/ adjust option for the 2100 frequency. so its definitely a band capability for the omnia 7610.

Because 1.5GB free device memory would be a lot. Both Omnia i900 and Omnia i8000 have much less.

It would really help me make the decision to get the Omnia Pro. I have already have the Omnia II and know it have the 1900 band. Thanks ahead.

Guest Abunai Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Can the people who have bought this phone please post some pictures? I found this video of a redesigned B7610, and it's hideous! http://www.unwiredview.com/2009/09/21/sams...in-promo-video/ Is this going to be the final design, is it a fake video, or what?

Guest rumkokos Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 how the SPACEBAR? How many sensors does it have? I once watched a review for samsung impression or something, and it was also a qwerty phone and Noah from mobiledog.com said the spacebar feels funny, as like it had two sensors and if u pressed in the middle it didnt register the space but it just bended in so u had to press left or right from the center to get a space. Is the space bar on this one nice and firm and it doesnt bend in or something? Is it somewhat like on experia or on touchpro2? In other words is it any change feeling pressing the space bar or does it register it nicely? Coz Noah really said the keybard is nice but the space feels funny in a bad way.

Guest spaanplaat Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 Only problem i found is sometimes the work menu (bassicly whole screen) changes from its blue color to green which looks quite nice but seems to happen randomly This happens because you have the display brightness set to 'change automatic'. If you switch that off you will notice the screen stays the same way.

And another thing i dont have the weatherpanel that you see on the professional screen (at least on all the pics) how can you make this appear. last question ;-) ofcourse there is great sound but srs only works when you plug in your headphones so no BT support.
