I personally like Mobile Shell 3

I like being able to have as many pages as i want. It lets me split application to different pages. Basically, i get all the pretty of the iPhone but with the functions of a real phone.

In addition to applications, i like being able to have instant info on the screen with stuff like missed called and calander and such. I even like the navigation of system info. Last, i like the icon dialing contacts.gif.

Down side. Well, it is not free. Weather system sucks imo. Seems kinda busy, i like the systems i use, but there are a lot of things that i just never even both with.

i like SPB MS3 too

but one thing i dont like is, the dialer phone page where it shows all the #s for someone, it constantly moves them around so that the last one called is the biggest #

this is annoying when you often switch between a cell and land line for someone and you constantly have to read it to double check

I use the default UI :) I know, I know, but i liked TouchWiz when I had it, but like 6.5's Today screen even better. :)

Using PointUI now with PointSense Suite, like it... needs to get a bit used to.

I used to use SPB Mobile Shell 2 and flet it's too lagging.

I used MotoSurf and liked it but it took quite a lot RAM.

I used WAD with iPhone theme... but then realized that I shouldn't limit my WM with IPhone's UI.

For a while I was using the normal Samsung Today 2 and it was good enough with adding a launcher like FingerPoint.

On wm6.5 the Titanium theme is mostly comfortable.

Not defending an UI, enjoying the freedom of choices (as oppose to IPhone holders)

Pointui with PoinSense v2 here as well. To me the best UI for WM yet. Tried them all (titanium, M2D, MS3, WAD etc.) but none is near PointSense.

For speed & reliability

Titanium - Standard

M2D

I switch between, depends where i am also.

Tired them all too, SPB, PointUI, WAD...they all have different issues, but Titanium & M2D work fine for me.

The main thing is the UI needs to be quick and reliable.

I also tried em all and my favorite atm is SPB 3.

I like it because its the only ui that gives me my upcomming appointments for a week on my homescreen (without installing any prog like for ex S2US). I have all the information i need on my homescreen and i just need to slide to the left to become on next page where all my fav progs are. It runs very fast with no lags and also no crashes/freezes.

I like to change my ui from time to time but i think i will stick with SPB for a while now because it just fill all my needs.

Question for the point UI people. I tried it out a bit ago and is it true that you only have 1 game of applications. I like PointUi for the size, but i need the ability to 'pin' more apps to the pages.

Another fan of SPB MS 3 here. I originally wanted Manila, but SPB takes up less memory, covers most of WinMo including calendar and contacts, gives me touch friendly control over almost every aspect of my phone, is reasonably customisable, looks pretty and has plugins for SPB Traveller, my fave and most used app. I really like the world clock and world weather these two together give me! The graphics are bright and very clear, it feels gentle and smooth on my phone, doesn't seem to affect battery life at all and has been very stable and reliable (so far - 6 months and counting - it has never frozen or crashed). I use my phone for business, so this is very important. On the downside, it must be installed in the main device memory, has a few more screens than I need (I never use any of the carousel screens) and is not quite as customisable as I would like, even with the Imarche skins, widget packs and so on.

I also tried PointUI, but it felt very clunky and "unfinished" by comparison. I tried a number of different themes and applets and most had a bug somewhere, some of them very basic, like the local time in the world applet always being 1 hour out. I also found the messaging functionality too limited (e.g. SMS and email alerts share the same icon), it doesn't seem to support Asian languages, which resulted in non-English emails in the message applet looking garbled, I didn't like the calendar and some of the graphics looked fuzzy. Overall, whereas SPB is a bit too rich, PointUI is too stripped down for my needs.

The adapted "PointSense" suite created by one of the community members has the ability to add widgets to the PointSense screens. These widgets can be things like calendars, clocks, device buttons, messaging, weather, contacts and program shortcuts. It allows you to create launcher pages mixed with other informational and functional pages. PointUI has come a very long way since their Home2 1.x versions!

I have been using it nearly since I purchased my Omnia (I tried a handful of other interfaces first) and especially now, I find it to be the most versatile and easy-to-use interface.

PointUI with PointSense ftw! Honestly, really reliable, really stable, and easy to use. The only thing I could want from it is when you press the call button it would be definitely useful to pull up the contacts page or favorite contacts.

Did they just release themes? I used it when it came out but then switched to Titanium once the 6.5 Rom's leaked, now I'm on PointSense and enjoying it despite the small but noticable lags through the menus.

by the way i am on winmo6.1 due to many things not found on 6.5

as

1) Better battery lasts from 2 to 3 days under full usage

2) Omnia never get hot under 6.1 !

3) Stableeeeeeeeeeee

Gonna switch to winmo6.5 when its official release on 6/10

I've tried them all, and I'm currently using Neo Titanium which is a re-skin of the default WM6.5 home screen.

When I got my phone it had WM6.1 on it, obviously, and I used the Samsung Today 2 - it's kind of ugly, but it had exactly the shortcuts I wanted and nothing extra. Then a while later Samsung upgraded the TouchWiz interface, and added those internet widgets which actually added some functionality to the TouchWiz interface so I used that for a while.

Early in 2009 I moved on over to WM6.5 and I liked Titanium so I decided to use that... eventually I found out Neo Titanium which works like Titanium but looks better IMO.

This is what I've actually used on my phone for long periods of time. In between those I've tired Manila2D, Spb Mobile Shell, PointSense, Throttle Launcher and whatever else home screen there is for Windows Mobile.

Some are gimmicky, and only attempt to recreate another platform on Windows Mobile... those are out for me, because I have no desire to disguise my phone as an iPhone or an Android phone (no offense to those who do). Some others, like Mobile Shell and Manila2D did a lot more than what I wanted from my home screen - I don't have a use for favourite contacts or favourite programs because I don't have too many contacts or programs. I just use a few modules on my home screen, and Titanium/Neo Titanium seems perfect as far as I can tell for people who want something that both looks and feels uncluttered.

Here it is currently... not much changes aside from the wallpaper:

Do you mean 1 screen af applications?

Built into pointui are 2 screens (favorite applications & quicklaunch). Both will hold 12 "pinned" apps/icons and both screens are just 1 button press from the main screen.

To each of these screens you can also pin a folder (or folders) if you want, which opens into another screen which can hold 12 more apps/contacts and on and on (the folders can be labeled as: business apps, communication, games, internet etc...)

You can also add a quicklaunch applet, so you could slide over a screen for your links instead of press a button (or both) or you can add a widget screen that slides but can hold even more icons (or mix n match other widgets like weather etc...).

Basically there are a few ways to set it up.

for example on the left is my favorite apps screen with a games folder that opens into an additional 12 games. On the Right is my calender screen which is 1 screen swipe left of my main screen and just above it you can see my links for the different thumbcal screens I use regularly ( I could also add a clock/weather/more shortcuts/contacts etc... to this screen if I wanted)

I've used most of the various UI replacements out there, and I generally come back to using Titanium. It's lightweight, customizable, and provides me with what I need/want in a home screen. I usually switch between one of the various Titanium themes (Bliss, WM7) or JUmba's Digital Solo JML skin.

I always resort back to titanium with the neo theme.

I use VITO 'Winterface'

I have used most others and personally, I find this to be by far the best.

- Completly customisable

- FAST

- Looks good

- Very nice task manager

Heres a good impression of the UI:

I never hear anyone talk about this UI and I still do not understand why!

I never hear anyone talk about this UI and I still do not understand why!

I actually recently recommended someone try this out in another thread.

Is that the older version you're running? The screenshots on their site look like they've revamped it...

I agree, it's a really good UI and I used it on a couple different winmo phones, but I had problems with it hiding my lock screen so that I couldn't see the keypad or covering other winmo screens and when it did this the graphics would get a bit glitchy. I had the same problem with sms chat...

I was going to try the newer version to check it out though... I actually own a license but I doubt i could find my key anymore.

Here's some new pics from their site.

did you do anything special to make that work? Literally all i did was use the free trial version when i used it last

Guest metalzoic

The 2 program screens are standard although I think you have to own the pro version to use the folders...

For the widgets screens you need to install the pointsense suite. It's kind of like an expansion, but it is community made and free and it works with the trial version so you can see what you think of the whole package before you buy.

Pointui Home 2 is stable, fast and everything is 1 button away. Pointsense has been fun and stable so far, but it's still a work in process... I do wish they hadn't copied the Hero look.
