Guest jonjay Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Hi. I have recently bought a new laptop, and it will not have outlook on it. My old one had a very old version of outlook that I used with activesync, which worked for backing up contacts. However, I have absolutely no idea where that disc is and I have no intention of buying outlook again, when windows mail in Vista is perfectly good enough for my email requirements. The problem is though, as far as I can see, without Outlook there is no way of backing up contacts on the Omnia in Vista. The phone crashed not long back and if it did it again now, I would lose all of my contacts as they are not saved anywhere else. Surely there must be an alternative to having to buy Outlook? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Guest TheDrizzle Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Try "PIM Backup". It runs on your phone and will backup your contacts, call log, calendar, texts, email, etc and its totally free: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705 Also Microsoft "MyPhone" can store your contacts in the cloud, but its a WM6.5 app. I think there is a cab for it around somwhere in the ROM sub-forums.

I used MyPhone with 6.1. Works just fine! :)
Guest ZoXoR Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 You can also try Google Sync (this uses Active Sync) it's free. You can find more information on http://www.google.com/mobile/products/sync.html#p=default
