It's pretty straightforward, but it wipes your device memory, so be sure to backup your contacts, and have the cabs available for apps you have installed. If you are using Vista64, you can't flash via the official tool, but there is a workaround (look in the ROMs subforum). If you are using Windows 7, set comparability mode for Vista, run it that way. Be sure to disable USB connections in activeSync (I think the tool instructs you to do that anyway). As far as free GPS client, Google maps is cool. No turn by turn, but it uses triangulation to estimate your location instantly. The Omnia GPS is pretty slow IMHO, it takes anywhere from 5-10 minutes to get a lock. Bing (rebranded Mobile Live Search) is good too, it does do turn by turn but it's not a feature rich a GPS program you'd pay for. GPSToday has some cool features as well. Check out the ROM subforum as well, there is lots of i910 info there, custom ROMs w/WM 6.5, etc. Have fun!

I can't get Bing to use my GPS to locate me without putting me in the middle of the ocean somewhere near Papua New Guinea.
Guest TheDrizzle Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 I can't get Bing to use my GPS to locate me without putting me in the middle of the ocean somewhere near Papua New Guinea. Not sure about that sorry. I would try using GPSViewer to "warm up" your GPS lock (open that up, let it lock onto satellites, close it out) then open up Bing and try using "track me with GPS". I've gotten it to work fine using that method, but YMMV.
