Guest Zealster Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 So what files store the templates for the SMS threaded message conversation view? I'd love to skin this, but I'm not sure what files control how the conversation view is rendered. I want to skin something like smileySMS, but I don't want to install the program. I just want the SMS skin, or to create my own. If anyone has any expertise in this, let me know, because I am more than willing to take the time to skin it, but I just don't know where to begin! Thanks for the help!
Guest ese89 Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 in the smileysms package you can find these files which are skinning messaging interface (read _setup.xml from the .cab file)to get names of these files.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 Default SMS app as far as I know cannot be skinned
Guest jason07 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Yeah go have a look at SmileySMS. They've managed to make it look iphone-like, and its just an XML file and a few .bmp files from memory, so should be fairly simple to change.
Guest Zealster Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) I looked at SmileySMS, but the only thing it seems to do is somehow take the messages, insert the skin, and redisplay them with body of the texts as the message. I'll dive deeper into the program, but skinning SmileySMS seems relatively easy. However, as someone mentioned in another slide, it lacks kenetic scrolling in threaded mode which is a huge downturn. I'll see if I can tweak some images out though at the very least that work a little better with the white background. Although I think it'd be easy to turn the background black with smileySMS. But I just hate it :$ Edit: It's simple to skin smileySMS, but the images he used are not transparent, so the boxes show up with white backgrounds on the side of the images. I'm not a very good image editor, but I'll try to make a cool new skin at least with a black background. Edited September 19, 2009 by Zealster
