PLEASE Help me with my Omnia

I am VERY new to this website, and am completely lost with how to use my phone. I have the Samsung Omnia, It was given to my by my brother who lives in California and I am in Rhode Island. When I got it as a gift he has it all "geeked" out for me and I love it. However there is a flook in it now and Verizon said my only option is a Hard reset, and if that doesnt work they will send me a new one. Problem is I Have not the slightest clue how or what I can back up. I have played with one in the store, and I HATE it w/out mobile shell! The verizon staff is ofcourse unhelpful and are totally against any "3 party programs"

So I am turning to this site for help. Maybe someone can take me step by step on how to put

Mobile shell back on

plus a route, I do alot of travel and rely on this phone in hotels to do work.

also...I may be pushing it now, Is there any instant messenger system so I DO NOT hhave to use Verizons s*** which charges WAY to much....PLease bt patient with me and help me.........

i am using palringo for instant messaging, you can have multiable messengers on it,works great on my omnia,,,also check out qik,,,i think you will enjoy that!! im not sure about the other things you mentioned

Agree with above Palringo is the ap to getr for messaging, you can also join the modao chat as well :)

The good thing about Palringo is that it works on your device and pc so you have the same format for all your messaging needs.

As for creating a backup for your device have a look at Sprite Backup (LINK) it's one of the most used backup applications for Windows Mobile devices.
