Guest Limlin Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Hi, my friend bought a new phone and at first it could power on. Then the battery dried out and she charged the new phone and finished the charging when it showed the charging was complete. But I heard that at the first three charging, the phone should be charged for more than 10 hours to activate the battery so that the serve life of battery can be lengthened. Is that right? Would anyone here know? :)

Li-ion battery likes to be kept topped up rather than being allowed to be discharged. Normally on initial charge can take around 4 hours or less depending on how old the battery is and when it left the factory. To help condition a battery it is worth giving is a long overnight charge once in a while.

I've already charged the phone all night.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Quality batteries have over and under voltage protection circuitry built in to them so technically a full discarge is hard to do. If you did manage to discharge a Li-ion battery you would drastically shorten the life or kill the battery as it damages the capacitance. As for the general life expetancy most units are designed to give around 500 charges but most if looked after will last a lot longer. I'm still using my old C550 and the battery is still going strong after all these years.
Guest Limlin Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Thank you very much for the explanation! :)
