i910 volume mutes all sounds by itself

OK, I searched for quite a while for this topic and couldn't find it already listed. Here's the deal.

4 weeks ago I updated my i910 to the latest Samsung ROM which FINALLY gave me the option to change the system volume and the ringer volume separately. SWEET! It worked as advertised for 3 weeks. As you know, the new volume controls give you volume levels 0 thru 5 + vibrate and mute.

Every night when putting my phone on the charger I'd set the system volume to 0 and leave the ringer volume at 5. For the past 6 mights when I set the system volume to 0, within 5 minutes of setting the phone down, I can check it again and the System AND Ringer volume levels have moved themselves to mute. This problem now happens 100% of the time when I set system volume to 0, whether I put the phone on the charger or not.

I've not made any system changes to my phone since the day I upgraded the ROM. On that day, I did the ROM upgrade, installed WMWifiRouter and set up active sync to sync with my Exchange server. I've double checked to make sure the ringer volume is set to 5 before setting the phone down, so I know it's not something I'm doing. Has anyone else seen this?

Many thanks,

Max.

Yep, I have an i910 and have the same problem. I have a post out there on separating the system volume and the bell volume, but with no solution. I tried using S2U2 volume control, but that hasn't worked either.

What's strange is that after upgrading to Sumsung's latest ROM, it actually worked as advertised for about 3 weeks. It was GREAT. I have no idea what changed to make it break.

Well, it's working now. The only thing I did was press the reset button on the top of the phone with the stylus. I've always thought that doing that was the same as removing the battery and putting it back in, but the battery trick never fixed the volume issue.

For some reason, the reset button cleared up the volume issue. It's working as expected and has been for about a week now. Strange.

Just wanted to share my findings.
