Guest Master_Axe Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Hey, so, Ive had my omnia for 10 months now, and I *still* have my original ROM, although instability and general lag are driving me insane. I'm looking for anything that will make even the slightest bit more finger friendly (I do have the new touch screen), meaning larger for he most part, and if possible smoother. I'm aware 6.5 is in beta, so trying that probably won't satisfy my needs, but any custom ROM of a newer software will do for me, as my country isnt gonne supply me with one anytime soon. Thanks Franz
Guest Riotman Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) How come that u know beforehand that wm 6.5 wont "satisfy" your needs ? Try Ryrzy's, shokka's, Khuanchai's or Nicklashidegard's ROMs with integrated M2D. These ROMs are way more fingerfriendly than the original one Their roms run very smooth and stable. And if you dont like to try WM 6.5, use a custom 6.1 ROM from Khuanchai for instance, or other great rom cookers. Btw there is no problem that u may try out several custom roms, as flashing your phone is rather easy. Have a look at the several threads and choose a rom that fits you For me i chose Ryrzy's Build 23016. Touch friendly, fast, stable, and good looking :) Edited September 22, 2009 by Riotman
Guest Koofteh Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) Why not just upgrade to a better ROM? There is no rational fear of flashing, the risk of bricking your phone is actually quite low. Fine if you don't want to flash a custom or WM6.5 ROM, but at least make sure you have the most recent 6.1 from Samsung. I don't remember when the last ROM came out from Samsung, but if you've had your phone for ten months it's likely not the latest official ROM anyway. And for what it's worth 6.5 might be in beta but it runs quite well, and it seems like Microsoft has finished the initial release of WM6.5 and is now working on future updates. WM6.5 is going to come out on October 6th anyway, so it's won't even be beta for much longer. If you for some reason don't like betas wait a week or two until 6/10 and I'm sure we'll see a virtually problem-free 6.5 ROM (other than finger mouse not working, seems like only an official 6.5 update from Samsung would bring that to us). Guest HellboyMC Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 6,5 isn't in beta, it's on many phones already, but new builds keep coming, i'd rather say current builds are release candidates. Newest ROMs are more responsive, faster and pretty stable :)
Guest Darthlord Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 You can try the latest builds of 6.5.1, they are very finger friendly with large buttons, etc
Guest Zealster Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I used to think 6.5 wouldn't be anywhere near finger friendly, but it makes things ALOT better. It has kenetic scrolling, when you swipe your finger left or right in messaging, it goes to the next message/conversation (email, sms). Also, those tabs in control panels are so much easier to get through. All you have to do now is swipe to the left or right to get to the next one. The default program menu is a little less finger friendly since it stops kenetic scrolling for each increment (it's hard to explain), but it's alot easier than 6.1's "CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK" while you wait for it to get to the bottom and it's insanely hard to scroll anyways. Also, scrollbars are barely even needed (i only use mine occasionally in programs that don't support scrolling; ie: bing..), and you can eliminate them entirely if you want. As far as enhancing that, titanium does a good job, but 3rd party software really is on the ball with replacing everyday usage.
