Ford USB socket - MP3s and Podcasts

My old mum (bless her) has got a new Ford with a USB socket.

I've read that you can plug a memory stick in and it'll play through stuff the stereo, which would be great for her when she goes on long trips.

So I'm hoping to find:

1. Anyone who's used a Ford USB socket - are there "rules" about what it can handle, where files have to reside etc?

2. A way of downloading her podcasts regularly, and sending them to the memory stick. Single-click operation would be nice (she's old), but I don't mind more complex stuff to set it up in the first place
