Well this past weekend I did it, I left my Omnia and Verizon for a Palm Pre and Sprint. I have to say that after 4 days I'm very happy with the coverage sprint has, pretty much the same as Verizon in NY, since they lease signal from Verizon. Some places I actually get better coverage than I did with VZW. Go figure. As for the Pre, I find it amazing how smooth/quick it is. The past month my omnia had been freezing up alot. As soon as Sprint did the Anymobile Anytime deal, I knew I'd be jumping from VZW.

I will say i'll miss the optical mouse button a TON best feature ever on a phone, not so much as a mouse but I loved to use it to scroll through text/web pages/links. Love to click on things with it. I'll also miss the Camera a TON.

More than both I'll miss the awesome people on here, this forum has to be the most amazing forum I've ever joined. I know I didn't post a lot, but man did I learn a lot! I'm going to stay as a member and definitely keep reading up on this forum.

Thank you everyone for all your help/support over the past months.

Thank You

I did want to add that for me the Iphone was never EVER an option! People seem to think it's such a great device, which I will say it is nice, but you can save alot and buy an ipod touch right? and just use wifi and if you have a service with any carrier besides ATT you can actually make a call to and have a full conversation before dropping the call. My fiance was so close to leaving out plan to jump to the Iphone, but i showed her a few pieces about how it actually isn't customizable at all as an OS, and she switched her thoughts. That combined with the conversation she had with her boss a couple weeks ago (her boss was on her iphone) which dropped the call twice, and when it didn't drop it garbled the speech.

Ok i'll shut it now.

again, thank you everyone.

How odd that after switching to another device the first thing they miss is the fingermouse ;-)

Who could have thought that? Samsung definitly didn't since they ditched optical pad in all new products. Fools.

I couldn't agree more...what are they thinking?!

Congrats. I was looking at the Pre the other day... at first glance it looks like a cheap toy, but it's actually very handy and not as cheap as it looks.

I would definitely check one out but GSM is pretty much the only option for me.

Interesting you mention the finger mouse, one of the things that has kept me from switching to another Windows Mobile device is that none of them seem to have a d-pad type thing anymore, but I figured a finger-optimized OS like webOS wouldn't really need one.

well after the first week on WebOs, I must say the responsiveness of the Pre screen is simply amazing. This does make it much easier to live without a fingermouse. Thank god. I also want to add that this is the best touchscreen i've ever used, simply amazing responsiveness. This is also the only touchscreen phone i've used besides the omnia (which will always be special to me!!). One more note, the iphone was never an option, for one, creativeness and 'originality' are a joke with that thing, and two, i don't want att's dreaded service, makes it like having an ipod that sometimes works as a phone.

this site is the best!

Damn you for bumping this thread!

I'm getting ever more tired of my i900 but I can't justify spending a chunk of money on anything else out right now. Nothing else WM interest me at all... the HTC Leo looks nice but nobody knows when it's coming, how much it will cost unlocked and just how huge it might be in one's hand. Palm Pre is nice but I'm not going to jump from GSM to CDMA just for that (and I vehemently dislike signing contracts too). Android is nice but I hate all the current phones that come with it... the Hero seems like a good phone but it's seriously ugly and doesn't really offer anything extra other than SenseUI over the HTC Dream/Magic which you can get for free from many carriers now.

So yeah, I'm kind of stuck... Palm Pre GSM and HTC Leo might be around the corner but then again maybe not. I even took another look at the iPhone... even with the added features of OS 3.0 and new hardware in the 3GS I still can't find any reason other than the pretty UI to buy one. I guess the apps are nice but I haven't seen any that really wowed me, most seem gimmicky or for people who are big time into social networking (not me).

Interesting you mention the Pre's touchscreen sensitivity... it's that good, eh? The demo I tried at the store didn't seem too responsive, I was actually kind of surprised by how unresponsive it was for a capacitive screen. Perhaps that demo was just messed up.

I have upgraded this week to a touch HD.

I did enjoy my time with the Omnia but I kinda got sick of having to try to get everything ported from HTC.

I just wanted to thank all the ROM chefs out there and also the other guys around that helped out with aps, themes etc.

The Omnia would have been just another phone if it wasn't for all you guys

I will still hang around here and try to help out where I can (XDA developers tends to be a bit on the heavy side :))

Thanks again guys.

Piemole out!

Did you but it new? If so, you weren't tempted by the upcoming HD2/Leo? :)

Na I got it on Ebay for a steal.

I kinda just put a random bid on it for shits and gigles and somehow I won the auction.

Would love a leo but it is gonna be pricey I reckon.

I flashed the HD to Manilla 2.5 last night anyhow and there is still plenty of memory to spare.
