Guest vinaymanro Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 Many of us were disappointed upon hearing that Windows Marketplace would not be launching for Windows Mobile 6.0/6.1 any time soon. Well over at the Windows Team Blog an announcement has been made informing us otherwise. With less than a week to go before some hot new Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets launch, with Windows Marketplace being immediately available, WM 6.0 and 6.1 users who are not upgrading immediately to a new WM 6.5 handset or installing a custom 6.5 ROM can rest assured that they will have access to Windows Marketplace by Nov 09.As we’ve been discussing since July, our plan is to deliver the full Marketplace experience in two phases. First, we’ll launch Windows Marketplace for Mobile with Windows phones on October 6th. We’ve also discussed following this launch with an update that will include support for Windows Mobile 6 and 6.1 by the end of the year. More specifically, we’re targeting November for phase two. In addition, this second phase will bring the PC based catalog and shopping experience, user generated app reviews, advanced key-based anti-piracy protection and other enhancements that expand your business opportunity and make it easier for a larger number of customers to find and buy your application. Guest Joel Ivory Johnson Posted October 1, 2009 Report Posted October 1, 2009 I'm kind of surprised to see this story resurfacing across the various blogs. If we go back and review the initial announcements from Microsoft it was stated the Marketplace would not be available to pre 6.5 WM builds at all. At a much later date the announcement was made about pre 6.5 builds getting the marketplace at the end of the year. Microsoft had never stated directly or implied that the 6.0/6.1 folks would get the marketplace on the same date as 6.5.
Guest mcwarre Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 [sarcasm]Wow. I'll rush there then[/sarcasm] How long has this taken compared to iphone? What a joke. There are too many people out there now who have gone the warez route - I can't see them recovering unless this is just a tool to attract noobies to WM
